BSOD-Stop 0xF4

Hey guys. I'm back with another BSOD. This time, what happened was when I first switched on the com, there was a message saying (from memory because I forgot to write it down) "The file C:\windows\winsxs\manifest\amd_64...soemthing something is corrupt and unreadable. Run CHKDSK utility. "

So I restarted, and then Windows Startup repair ran, for quite a while, and when it finally stopped and restarted, the chkdsk ran. Found a lot of orphaned files, repaired minor errors in filenames, etc. and then it restarted. However, it asked to check disks for consistency again. And again, the same thing happened. So the next time, I stopped chkdsk from running, and after the starting windows logo came out, the dreaded BSOD was there. It said Stop 0x00000000F4(0x000000003, 0xFFFFFA8005BF1060,0xFFFFFA8005BF1340,0xFFFFF800033875D0).

So now, I'm stuck in an endless loop. It's running startup repair right now. And I've a feeling it might be the same result. What should I do? I haven't tried booting into Safe mode yet. So I shall try that next, but in the meantime, any advice? Im not sure if my hard drive might be the problem, maybe its failing?

Yes I know I should do that, but I haven't been able to boot into Windows.

I just tried and I can't boot into Safe mode. Hmm how do i proceed now?

Any suggestions guys? I'm thinking I should just restore it from an image I did before, but if my hard drive has got problems, they are gonna come back aren't they. Any way to fix the errors and check the hard drive without Windows installed?

I decided to restore it from a previous image. Now when i use HD Tune, it says its got bad sectors and Ultra DMA CRC errors.

Also, when I try to run the Western Digital Data lifeguard diagnostics tool, it can't complete the quick test, stops after 8 secs. It says
06-Quick Test on drive 1 did not complete! Status code = 07 (Failed read test element), Failure Checkpoint = 97 (Unknown Test) SMART self-test did not complete on drive 1!
But the SMART status shows pass.

Should I get a new hard drive? and also, if i do an image of the drive using Acronis to transfer to my new drive, is it okay? Thanks!

I would advise a new hard drive. With storage prices as they are...

At worst, if it doesn't solve the issue, then you have an extra hard drive.

Yes, it is okay to do a transfer with Acronis.

Doing an image of a bad HD won't affect the workings of the new one? I'm thinking it won't, but just to clarify. And does this really mean my HD is failing? Just got it for less than a year, but oh well. Guess maybe I got a lemon.

No, it should not affect anything. Just to make sure, though, run a disk check on the new drive, after Acronis is done with it. Open a command prompt and enter chkdsk /r.

Hard drives have been known to fail out of the box ... replace it.. the prices are dirt cheap and it is not worth the trouble that you are having not to...
