- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? Home Premium x64
- an OEM or full retail version? Was OEM, now full retail
- OEM = came pre-installed on system Was OEM
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer Windows 7 Professional x64, SP1

- What is the age of system (hardware)? 11 months
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) Clean install 4/1/11

I have Windows Security Essentials installed, not sure why it's not showing up in perfmon.

Using external eSATA dock & new 1TB 3.5" drive. Have gotten blue screens when it's just idle. Otherwise working okay & in Disk Management. Hopefully there is something in the BSOD collection app.

Original BSOD was IRQL STOP: 0x0000000A
Requested HotFix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979444/en-us

How long did you run Driver Verifier for?

The drivers are all from Dell's site except for the video drivers. I have not had a blue screen going all the way back and including the release candidates. In the 10 years I used XP Pro I got a couple when I was overclocking, never any other time. The issue only occurs when using eSATA for external dock & drive. Never at any other time.

If you look, the dump.txt file is taken from the Windows SDK tool. Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.12.0002.633 AMD64.
Loading Dump File [C:\Windows\Minidump\042611-18189-01.dmp] I saved it as a text file & blew it away before I posted or knew the guidelines. Had I known it was needed, I would have kept it, but the info is the same.

Microsoft sent me this hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979444/en-us So I will make a recent image and give that a try.

Still give driver verifier a shot; drivers from Dell may still cause problems if they are out of date or otherwise incompatible.

Okay, brand new mini dump file & BSOD

I did the safely remove hardware, unplugged the cable and got a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED this time instead of the IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal.
