BSOD while installing Windows

HI,

I've made a new custom setup that will serve as media center but whan attempting to install windows 7 home prem 32bit i run into a BSOD.

This occurs right after windows loaded the files for installation and showing me te windows logo.

No windows is installed previous to this one so no acces to save mode.

Did memcheck and hdd check and everything is ok.

Anyone with more tips/tricks to solve this?

Without knowing the codes, it is impossible to say anything precisely.

Can you take a camera snap of the BSOD screen and upload it here?

**** few more info .... are you applying any HDD that is an existing (I mean previously used) one? And let us know the motherboard's info.

now when i start the pc it gives me only a black screen after the windows logo..

the hdd is previously used one.

That is an old nvidia chipset motherboard. You said that you are building a new setup .... have you bought the board newly?

nvidia chipset boards are mostly automatically nvraid enabled. Boot into the BIOS. Change the storage controller mode to either AHCI or ATA/IDE whichever is available, then try the installation again.

By saying new setup I ment a full setup from scratch in this case with used parts.

Can't seem to find the storage controller in my bios.

Mate have you tested the drive using another machine you can do that byinstalling it into the other machine or as I do use the USB to SATA gadget seepic.

Now the two tests I usually start with are the Seatools for Windows and the Partiton Wizard surface test see pic

Another thing you can look at mate is this

Using HW Info

You can test the volts on the PSU with HWInfo HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 -Download < download the right bit version andclose the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power sectionwhere you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.

The original right hand window shows themachine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use themain left hand side panel

FOR OTHER COMPONENTS

Open each + down into the componentitself and then click on it - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that device. See pic for example.



An alternative is this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/301799-psu-test-dc-output-voltage.html but please use a digital meter and NOT an analogue one becauseit will inject typically 9v into a circuit for testing and that would bedisastrous in a 5v or 3.3v rail (socket / lead/plug)
Post a pic back please and where it says Nuvoton that is the section in my Asus board yours may be a little different.

Would be very helpful if you fully filled up your System Specs. Try to run the computer with minimal components such as only one RAM module one HD and no external devices connected apart from mouse and KB and see if that allows you to install Windows

Well I agree and HW Info or this would fit the bill
