Solved BSOD While Playing LA Noire

Hello, I have been having very consistent BSOD crashes while playing LA Noire for maybe 5 minutes (when I say consistent, I mean that they happen consistently, the errors themselves are not as consistent and seem to vary every other crash). I have had crashes due to an Nvidia Video card driver in the past though these have become less common with the latest driver updates from Nvidia. I still have reason to believe that there is an issue with my video card considering that is all that has really changed about my machine. I have performed stress tests on the graphics card itself using FurMark with normal results and no crashes. I have run memory diagnostic with 20 passes which revealed no issues.

Crashes also commonly occur while playing Borderlands 1 and 2 and some Valve games (portal 2, Counter Strike GO).

Hello mate, crashing again? :(

Do three things at first, and see what happens.

Scan the system for possible virus infection.

Apply the latest version of nVidia display driver.
You may download it directly, from our forum link http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/602-latest-nvidia-forceware-video-drivers-windows-7-a.html; or you may opt for the Option 2 of Drivers- Download NVIDIA Drivers for “Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products” (it requires java installed).

Check the system temperatures with Speccy.

BTW, how old the graphics card is?

The graphics card is less than a year old (maybe 6-7 months?) And I've performed the three suggestions with no results... No rootkits were found and Defender offline reported nothing also. I've had another BSOD (similar stop error, if not the same, I can never see the whole thing before the system reboots).

Update it from Official Linksys Support Site.

Do some general USB related troubleshooting, too. For the port, first, uninstall and reinstall the USB ports drivers.

  1. Right click on Computer icon > manage. It will open the computer management window.
  2. Click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, it will list all installed devices up.
  3. Expand "USB Serial Bus Controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  4. Click on one item to select, then right click and uninstall.
  5. Do the same for all.
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate drivers.
And, Disable USB Selective Suspense too.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

For the devices, first, detach all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.
Then, Update the drivers for them all, including the keyboard and mouse, if any third party drivers are installed for them.

Let us know the results.

Alright, I've updated the Linksys card to the latest driver (however this driver was for 32 bit Vista....) and I've run into another error while playing Counter Strike: GO, though this one is different than the others I've been having.

Installed the hotfix, but I recently just got the all too familiar error that I was getting before... This time while playing Empire: Total War

EDIT: I know this wasn't the error I was getting that you recommended the fix for, but I'm not sure how to reproduce that error to see whether the fix did anything

Update the drivers for all those devices.

It is reported as a USB related fault, and in such a situation it is the better to update the drivers for the USB devices.

I have updated the drivers for the keyboard, mouse, and headphones. The axe fx should have new drivers soon, so in the meantime i just uninstalled the drivers and unplugged it from the usb port. I ran into another error that looked similar to the problem I had with the network card. I am using a usb network card currently. Drivers may not be up to date because I simply let windows install them, but let me know what it could be

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

You are having lots of NTFS and Volmgr errors. In this situation, better you dont use any HDD monitoring program, speially a demanding one like Acronis. As a try, uninstall DiscDirector.

You are having a few ataport error, too. For them, you need to scan the system for possible virus infection.

As another try, place the SATA to another port on the motherboard.

Update Marvell 91xx Confige Device Driver for 6G SATA Controller, ar it is really very old. Search in Marvell ... http://www.marvell.com/support/downloads/search.do

C-Media USB Audio Driver (WDM) (PLTGC.sys) is failing there ..... try to get some updates from C-Media Electronics, Inc..

After doing there, continue with verifier .... it might catch something more.

No rootkits found with either Defender Offline or TDSSKiller... I can't seem to find any drivers for my Marvell 9128 either... What updates should I be getting for from C-Media, my motherboard doesn't list anything from them and I can't find any USB devices that would match the description of those updates in the device manager. Will try to switch to another SATA port when I get back from class. Would it be a possible option to just do a clean installation of Windows and start from scratch?

Alright, I will keep trying then to find out the problem without reinstalling windows. The system was built in 2009 with only small simple changes over the past few years and it only started having BSODS in the past year after I had upgraded to Win7 Ultimate from Home Premium, installed a new graphics card and moved the hard drive with the OS to a newer SATA drive. I had used Acronis to clone the drive with my OS to a newer SATA drive (coming from PATA...). I will just keep trying the changes you suggest.

I am still unsure of which C-Media update to download and apply though. The only two that stick out to me that I could need might be CM6206 and CM6302 because I use a Dolby 7.1 headset. Do you have any suggestions on how I could find out which other updates I might need?
