BSOD while using After Effects

Greetings,
This is my second time I've experienced the BSOD. The first caused me to re-install my OS because the PC was relatively new (custom built). The system is about 5months old even.

Now it has occurred again while editing in adobe after effects. I can surf the net, play music and open programs without any crashes. But when I use after effects it occurs. However the first time it happened I was not able to do anything as the BSOD appeared in a minutes time after boot.

I have the latest BIOS and have done systems scans yet nothing.
ALSO, I just inspected my Hardware and realised on my front fans have died. Would this cause the BSOD? Also, can I still use the system without the fan until the day when I can purchase one, as I have alot of work to get done.

I've attached the the dump files:

Thank you.:)

PS- first time posting hope it was clear enough :geek:

Hi skec, welcome to 7F! :)

I just inspected my Hardware and realised on my front fans have died. Would this cause the BSOD?
Yes, it's possible.

can I still use the system without the fan until the day when I can purchase one, as I have alot of work to get done.
What I would do until you can get the fans running again would be to take one of the side covers off, and point a fan into the case. AC would be nice.

Just be careful if you have children or pets around, and warn the DW if you have one.

Your .dmps point to AfterFX.exe as the cause of your problem, and with it being graphics intensive, that would cause more heat build-up.

Some information to read up on for that 0x124 error, see #2: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html

Thanks alot @ ANAK

I've read the linked thread and have done most of the requirements... will give it another dust clean up tomorrow and do the necessary recommendations you gave.

I needs my AE back up;P so when the morning breaks I'll try to source a replacement fan. Will post back again to let you'll know how it goes.

Thanks alot!!! ;)

Hi again!
Its been difficult to source a same size fan for my thermaltake A90. I've placed a large fan directly to the opened side of the case yet the problem persist. :(

Is the problem occurring because the system is detecting malfunctioning component - the fan?
Would uninstalling re-installing after effects help in anyway?

Are there any other temporary solution I can use to adjust the heat level or the like? Lol.

My job is on the line at the moment...:o

If you are doing any amount of overclocking stop, and return your machine to vendor specs.

Is the problem occurring because the system is detecting malfunctioning component - the fan?
Possibly. Disconnect the fan leads, if you haven't done so already.
It could even be the fan's controller, I believe that is located on the MB.

Would uninstalling re-installing after effects help in anyway?
Again possibly, you will need to use a clean-up tool before re-installation.
I don't know the specs of your after-effects, but this page may help: CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3

Are there any other temporary solution I can use to adjust the heat level or the like? Lol.
Put a bag of ice between the fan, and the machine.

Hi,

Lol @ the bag of ice.

Well I did most of the 'Stop 0x124' instructions. Except for #6 'stress test...' As I did not get the free time.

I did reset the system to default where overclocking is concerned. I will disconnect the fan to from the MB and attempt the stress test.

What I've done is also placed a more powerful fan at the opened side of the case as well. It seems to keeps the system stable but I have not run AE in any intensive manner as of yet. Here I guess its really the heat.

Thank you. I will reply over the weekend and give feedback as I'd only be able to attempt the above in a few hours from now.
