Bsod

Well, again, like I have said before, my current rig is down, so I'll probably keep this one as it is for now.
This will remain unsolved, and I will continue to post updates on my BSODs.

Thanks!

Another BSOD :P

1. Microsoft Windows message box again.
Code:
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:	BlueScreen
  OS Version:	6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.2
  Locale ID:	1033

Additional information about the problem:
  BCCode:	1000008e
  BCP1:	C0000005
  BCP2:	91860B82
  BCP3:	A5D34AE0
  BCP4:	00000000
  OS Version:	6_0_6000
  Service Pack:	0_0
  Product:	768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
  C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini101912-01.dmp
  C:\Users\Trolldad\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-71183-0.sysdata.xml
  C:\Users\Trolldad\AppData\Local\Temp\WER6C97.tmp.version.txt

2. Files from the above message are attached. Like the last time (but not the first 2 times), the 2 files in the TEMP folder are NOT there. (And I finally realized that the 7Forums Diagnostic Tool attaches the Minidump files, so I don't need to manually attach em now :D

3. SevenForums diagnostic tool files are zipped and attached.

Hey!
:( Looks like nobody's been reading this :(

Well, I found out what was causing my computer to not boot properly. I discovered that if my TV (connected via VGA) was turned on, the computer would not even boot to the BIOS. There would be no hard drive activity (I can tell by a light). However, if the TV is off, it boots :D

Now, I tried again to install SP1, but it completed INSTANTLY. I uploaded the CBS logs. Can somebody please help me? This has been an ongoing problem for a few months now.

Thanks!

Hi Justin,

Sorry for the delay. I transferred to another degree last week and I'm playing catch up now.

Your CheckSUR and CBS logs are clean. Could you post your Windows Update log please?

Hi Justin,

Is SP1 still showing as installed? Open command prompt and type: winver and press enter. Second row down, what does it say?

Thanks for looking at it.
In the Windows Update log, it says that Service Pack 1 is SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED, but when I re-check for updates, it's there again :(

Oh, and I'm so happy :D
I finally got my main Windows 7 rig back up and running. It was a corrupt MBR :D
But I had to wait an entire month cause I'd encrypted the system partition with Truecrypt :(

So, is there anything that you can still help me with?
BSODs stopped happening for now, though...

Hi Justin,

What issues are you still having? The SP1 problem?

Try renaming this folder:

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistributionOLD

Then reboot, and run Windows Update :)

Can't.
It won't allow me to do it, even though I have full permissions and have taken ownership of it :P

Let's try this then:

Step 4: Rename the Software Distribution folder on your PC

  1. Stop the Automatic Updates service
    1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
    2. Right-click the Automatic Updates service, and then click Stop.
    3. Minimize the Services snap-in.

  2. If the error message that you received contains the code 0x80072f8f, the problem is most likely caused by an incorrect date or time setting on your PC.
  3. Rename the SoftwareDistribution directory as follows:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
    2. Type cd %windir%, and then press Enter.
    3. Type ren SoftwareDistribution SDTemp, and then press Enter.
    4. Type exit, and then press Enter.

  4. Start the Automatic Updates service as follows:
    1. Maximize the Services snap-in.
    2. Right-click Automatic Updates service, and then click Start.
    3. Close the Services snap-in window.

This is VISTA, plz remember.
Is it the Windows Update service?

EDIT: Stopped Windows Update service and successfully renamed. Doing SP1 now.

Nope, SP1 still installs SUCCESSFULLY (well, it seems at first), but nothing happens :P
It "succeeds" instantly, :P

Have tried that before :D
Didn't work before, but am trying again now.
Hope for the best :)

EDIT: Well, it went to about halfway in approximately 5 minutes, then went back to the start (empty bar, no indication other than that) and was stuck there :P
So I ended it.

Hi Justin,

I'm all out of ideas I'm afraid. Unless another member has something else to offer, I'm going to have to recommend that you do a clean install.
