Very welcome. Glad you have audio going now. Very surprised that neither Gigabyte nor C-Media provide these drives.

Very surprised that neither Gigabyte nor C-Media provide these drives.

Gigabyte has to get them from C-Media first, and from the looks of C-Media's download page they have dropped support for everything but their current line-up of audio chips.

C-Media 9880 driver for Windows 7 X86

Try this. You can thank Asus and me after lol.

http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5GDC Pro/Cmedia_64(WHQL).zip

If it doesn't install with the setup.exe, try through the device manager using the .inf.

Hi guys - having the same probs with a Gigabyte-8I915G Pro board but running X86 Windows 7 (original drivers for Gigabyte worked OK in Win XP - moved to Win 7 and get an error Code 10 message ....). Below link for X64 ...... does anyone know where I can find the Cmedia drivers for X86?

Tricky Fix

Had the same hardware error - "Code #10 Could not start device" with the standard windows audio driver installed.

Windows 7 wouldn't start the install app package that I downloaded from the Gigabyte support site (XP/2000 application).

I did manage to fix the problem though.

Firstly I uninstalled the audio device in Device Manager, re-scanned for hardware changes, opened the properties of the newly detected audio device, and simply scanned the folder of the CMdeia drivers and it picked it up and installed fine.

Extra

No worries, thanks Robert. Hopefully this helps someone out of a bind.

Extra bit of info, I had a little trouble after installing the driver successfully, getting sound out of the PC. If you get this issue open the Sound control panel (Start > Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound) and check the Playback tab, check the default speakers under this tab. The driver installed 2 different sets of speakers, one works and one doesn't, change the default speakers and bingo, you should be away.

Also the C-Media 3D configuration software doesn't work too well, and it may have something to do with the compatibility mode that was mentioned by an early poster.

Cheers!

Dave

A bit of a thread mine, signed up to say thanks this is the only idea that I found to have worked 100% spot on with windows 7 32 bit...

Awesome

Stoked it helped, nice to return the favour as a sort of "pay it forward" type of thing, on behalf of those others that have helped me out of a bind through posting threads in forums.

Cheers,

Dave

What worked for me is to download the Cmedia 9980 64-bit audio driver v5.12.1.9 (WHQL) drivers from Asus and install them WITHOUT my speakers plugged into the smart media jack. I know it sound weird, but that made the difference. Works now!

Thanks to thefabe for the |MG| Cmedia Azalia Audio Codec 9880 package

Four years later, this package did the trick for me!

For resolving the following issue : code 10 for HD Audio device on a ASUS P5AD2-E Premium motherboard

I proceeded this way:
- download the zip file and unzip it to my desktop
- install manually the driver by selecting the INF file in the extracted folder

Thanks again and cheers to thefabe
