Cannot boot to dvd- only OS

Have a lenovo that I want to wipe and use an ISO to reload the OS. First of all this thing (Lenovo Ideapad Z570) was corrupted, which is why I want to wipe and load. When I enter bios (F2), I only have one choice and that's the OS, no dvd or usb choices. The dvd works because I can see the files on the dvd. Device mgr says its ok. I just need to be able to boot from the dvd. I tried to update the bios from the lenovo site and it said I already had it. Tried the battery as well. Any ideas? Just need to wipe and load the OS to have a clean start.

Does any other bootable DVD work in the drive? If not try flash stick install.

Where did you get the ISO and how is it burned to DVD?

Confirm the ISO integrity and try another burn as specified in Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7
which also discusses all other install options.

I got the ISO from My Digital Life and burned with ImageBurn. I have done this many times and used them to reinstall on OEMs. The issue that I'm having is there is no way to boot from anything other than the existing OS on the hard drive, which is what I want to wipe and reload the OS. The choice to boot from anything else is not available. The usb ports work and the dvd player works, but they are not in the boot order. I did go into the dvd and selected the install file of the ISO and it loaded temp files and then began to install, but gave an error saying the disk could not be located. Is there a way around this? Just need to wipe and install.

Just a random thought.

Check your Bios settings. Is there a setting to hide other boot devices?

On my desktop Bios I can set the first boot device, second boot device and third boot device.

Now if I select all these to be the Hard Disk, then in the Boot Priority, I will perhaps get only the Hard Disk and will not see the other devices to select.

Is something like this happening in your BIOS? Explore your BIOS settings in each tab.

I have another lenovo laptop that I entered BIOS by using F12. It has the tabs and you can select which to boot from. The corrupted laptop I am fighting with BIOS does not even look close. Is there away around this so I can wipe and load a new OS? I'm at a loss on this one. The OS is severely corrupted and I'm sure the BIOS is as well. I downloaded the bios from lenovo and attempted to install. It said it was already installed. Any ideas?

Is it by any chance UEFI and not the normal BIOS? A quick google search indeed reveals that possibility.

greg may perhaps continue. My job is over if it is indeed UEFI.

From greg's Clean install tutorial, which he has already indicated in post#2:

"If you have an UEFI BIOS, or receive an error that Win7 cannot be installed to this disk because of its formatting, and cannot overcome the error by deleting all partitions, then you may need to follow the special steps to Install Windows 7 with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) including to Create UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive, or Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7. Remember to boot installer as UEFI Device. We can help troubleshoot UEFI problems as we do here every day."
