Cannot connect to network

I tried the link myzr7 gave to me, but it told me nothing that I didn't already have set (and reset about a million times). I officially hate Windows 7 now. This shouldn't be this difficult.

Belkin USB adapter disconnect after hibernate

cant seem to find my same problem occuring in the forum....
new computer, windows 7 64 bit.

installed (online) Belkin driver (most recent I guess) and its working great, but.....
after I come back to computer and "wake it up" out of sleep, the Belkin shows no connectivity. Not really a problem but theres isnt a fast/easy way to get it reconnected other than "troublshoot" which will go through checks and then 'reset' the adapter and al is fixed. With XP i just right clicked and re-connected or refreshed or something that was quick and painless.


Any settings adjustment anywhere to keep USB adapter connected all the time?

Don't put the computer into sleep....

i know that sounds like a blunt answer but it does take time for the computer to wake up so you will have that delay.. if you need it immediately.. thats your answer

Maybe "mollydoggy1971" will take you up on a TeamViewer session to look at the networking problem??

I am actually starting my A+ certification class....

you know how sad it is when you have your own server at home using acrynoms such as vpn, ftp, upnp on the first day of class. Then you are correcting the teacher on what he saids cause you know he is wrong. I am just there for my certificate.

its one of those classes that you can't "always raise your hand" in the class cause you will be "that guy" then you can "not" raise it becuase you won't get the participation.

When did going to school get complicated... I remember when I got gold stars.

I love to use team viewer and show people on their computers... i like to impliment it into the conversation after the 3rd page especially with the networking becuase i already know they are fustrated. they are amazed that a simple click in windows 7 fixes everything.

Well, I finally got it figured out. Windows Live installed something when it installed over my Office installation. I uninstalled that program and everything works almost 100% now. I KNEW it was something simple. Anyhow, my new issue is this: When I reboot my Windows 7 machine, I cannot access the shared drives anymore in Linux, unless I reboot that machine also. Any ideas?

Ah...Finally this thread is marching towards an end.
BTW, in Windows there will be an option to reconnect the drives after logon. For ex., if u map a drive in Windows, you have to check mark that option. Anything similar to that available in Linux??

Update: Got from technet forum.
This issue can be caused by firewall. I suggest that you temporary disable the firewall on the computer and check the result.
Another reason is that the drive will drop idle connections after a specified time-out period to prevent wasting resources on unused sessions. The connection can be re-established very quickly, if required.
