Solved Cannot set Static address

I`ve tried my usual tactics, can anyone tell my why the ip4 properties are grayed out and will not let me set a static address ?

Believe me I'm no expert on such matters but I do have a idea.

Could it be a permission problem on Home Network?

What do you mean by "usual tactics?" It maybe a conflict with ipv6. Try disabling it, check proxy settings, also the suggestion here. TCP/IPv4 Properties Button Disabled... ??? - Microsoft Community

What do I mean by "usual tactics" by that I mean I have tried every thing I know in my head, which is a lot

Every PC I`ve ever worked on brings up the Local Connection Properties, this PC will not, and it is not setup any different from the others.

I already tried all that towns ip6 is not used yet.

I will look into what Jack has suggested, I did once but I`ll go over it again.

Brink I uninstalled the adapter to change its name back to Local Area Connection, so that`s fine now

There is only 1 adapter (on the board) on this PC

If you use virtual machines, you may have a virtual switch that this needs to be set in instead.

And it`s not joined to a Home Group

This is an odd issue.

Yes it is odd because your picture (post #1) shows this computer Joined to a Home Group.

When I uninstalled the adapter, it knocked it out of the group, but I still can`t do a thing with it, oh the agony

I have 3 other PC`s in the house joined to the Home Group, and none of them are giving me this issue.

I`m gonna slap another NIC in there and see what happens, maybe it`s garbage.

In all cases, they say that a malware infection was the culprit. No idea if its actually that in your particular case, but it may be worth to do a virus scan on the affected computer. Also, a sfc scan can help.

Why a static ip?

Doesn`t matter why, the point is I can`t do anything with this motherboards NIC, it`s not normal.

One thing different than mine is that first screen shot you show shows no ipv6 connectivity ?
Don't ask me how to set it up

But we don`t use ip6 connectivity, not yet, at least not that I know of.

Mine shows Internet just as ipv4 does.
Need it or not I don't know but has she done anything to disable ipv6 ?

I believe these setting are default because I don't remember changing anything.

Hi, remove the adapter driver in Device Manager.
Tick the box to delete the driver software and re-boot.
This will re-set the connectivity properties.
