I have this problem. I've tried everything lol not sure how command prompt works and there is no option for "Previous windows installation" in disk cleanup

Hello Monalisa, and welcome to Seven Forums.
You might see if you may be able to use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to delete your C:\Windows.old folder. Be sure to follow it exactly though to make sure that you are using the correct drive letter since it may not always be C: at boot.

Found this thread as I searched for the answer to the same problem. Disk Cleanup worked! Thank you very very much. I have been trying a lot of solutions, including cmd deletion and the taking the ownership method and the Unlocker freeware but this one solved the problem. Very good thread!

In my case, I got a slew of errors like this:
windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\Dot4.sys - Access is denied.
windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\Dot4Prt.sys - Access is denied.
windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\Dot4usb.sys - Access is denied.
windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVER~1\FILERE~1\DOT4~2.INF\x64\Dot4.sys - Access is denied.
windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVER~1\FILERE~1\DOT4~2.INF\x64\Dot4usb.sys - Access is denied.
windows.old\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVER~1\FILERE~1\DOT4PR~2.INF\x64\Dot4Prt.sys - Access is denied.
Turned out that my DOT4 printer was on, and though the WINDOWS.OLD file's driver set shouldn't've been in use, when I turned it off, then the deletion of WINDOWS.OLD was instant.
