Can't Keep Software from Starting at Startup

Hello,

Newbie here.

I have Windows 7 and everytime I startup the computer, Google Chrome, Firefox, and AutoCAD start automagically. This is getting extremely frustrating.

I have even looked into the msconfig program with Windows and none of these programs are checked in the Startup Tab.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

the way i deal with the autoruns is to use this program Autoruns for Windows v10.06 (By Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell)

This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

Autoruns' Hide Signed Microsoft Entries option helps you to zoom in on third-party auto-starting images that have been added to your system and it has support for looking at the auto-starting images configured for other accounts configured on a system. Also, to boot up faster, delete the both google and something related to google notifier (sorry on mobile) values, right click and select delete.
In the 2nd pic, delete everything except Acer boot smart/boost and acer launcher (or similar, infact, the first value). Those are just unnecessary startups.
Before that select the 'Run' key in left pane and select Export from File menu and save it to somewhere you can remember with any name as a backup, incase if you want to restore it later.
However, there's no reference to Google chrome, firefox and AutoCad in the 'Run' list.
Follow the advice on Autoruns. It can display hidden startup locations too.

I forgot to mention that I already installed the AutoRuns program from MicroSoft and the software: Google Chrome, Firefox, and AutoCAD are not on the list(s) in the AutoRuns program either.

have you tried looking in the everything tab?

have you un-installed the programs you have probs with then tried reinstalling then looking in autorun? for there entries also look in task scheduler.

brianzion, yes, I looked in all four tabs you suggested with the green arrows. I even did a Ctrl-F to use the Search feature in those tabs - Result: Nothing!

Also, I reinstalled AutoCad and it does the same thing. And AutoCAD takes about 2 to 3 hours to uninstall and reinstall because of all the customization.

I have not tried uninstalling Chrome or Firefox.

Please also note, that when I go to the Windows Task Manager, I see acad.exe in one of the processes even when I close the program. When I click on it and try to "end" the process it does not end it. It's like it is resident in memory all the time. Although I close the program it's still in the task manager and can not be killed.

i would uninstall chrome and firefox and reboot then re-install then reboot again and see what happens if they autorun on startup again.

Type services.msc in the start search box. Click on the icon then look in services to see if these programs are set to automatic startup. You can stop them, then set them to manual by right clicking on properties. Select from the dropdown bar.

Do you know what the directory of "C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local" is?

In that directory is Chrome, Firefox, and AutoCAD as shown below.

they will be connected to the said programs yes but dont go deleting files at random just uninstall with the proper programs uninstaller otherwise you will end up with problems
