Solved changing OS from 32 bit to 64 bit.

This is mainly a concern that reinstalling all the Toshiba crap has loaded up your Startup list which diminishes performance on a clean reinstall. You can regain most of this by removing it from starting with Windows. Only your AV and any program that you miss starting up with Windows needs to be selected

If you'd like I can connect via Teamviewer to check over this and the rest of your install. Just install Teamviewer from the green download button and install at all defaults, send back your ID number and password to me in a private message, leave TV open and I can connect when I get home from my bike ride. Free TeamViewer Download for Windows

be back on tomorrow... getting late here... in england... cheers

I connected but didn't get an answer my voice or typed messages.

You did good since all that is checked in msconfig>Startup or >Services (after Hiding All MS Services) is Kapersky, cutting out a ton of Toshiba Bloatware which was reinstalled into the Clean Reinstall. This will minimize its impact but I'd still eventually uninstall all of it you know you don't need in Control Panel>Programs.

I found a Face Recognition listing clearly labeled in both places and checked it, so you can test now that it works as you please. If you decide you don't need it then uncheck it in both places.

Since you have 4gb RAM I edited out the visual effects of fading, sliding, selection rectangle and dragging intact, which suck up a lot of resources and which are not noticeable. This is standard for >4gb installs for best performance. Optimize Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

The rest looks okay except I would mark the D drive Inactive unless it needs to boot for some reason. I see it only has backups on it. Only the OS boot partition should be marked Active. Partition Wizard Rebuild MBR - Video Help.

Any questions?

Do you remember when this began? What had you changed just before this shutdown hang started?

It could be caused by the D drive being marked Active. Did you mark it Inactive yet? If so then try unplugging it, or disabling in BIOS setup to see if it is hanging shutdown.

Then run a few Startup Repairs to check over the boot files.

There is such corruption caused by the Toshiba bloatware that even uninstalling it doesn't get rid of problems caused by it. Do you happen to have a System Restore point before you installed most of it? If not I'd seriously consider doing the reinstall over to go completely clean with only the Toshiba programs you know for sure you need.

This time follow Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 but add the step of wiping the HD with Diskpart Clean Command to clear the boot code before installing.

hi there,,, please tell me how i can make the D drive inactive.... i forgot to mention, i tried the restart and shut down in safe mode and it worked. i just did the start up repair by inserting and booting the windows 7 disc and doing the start up repairs but it said there were no problems ?

Click the blue link which is an illustrated tutorial showing how to perform every step I've given you. Partition - Mark as Inactive - Windows 7 Forums

This is why its not a good idea to reinstall all of the Toshiba drivers and crapware. These interfere with much better versions built into Win7, which also provides its own drivers that it prefers so that the only ones which need to be imported from Toshiba are the ones still missing after all rounds of Important and Optional WIndows Updates are done.

So by installing all of the Toshiba crap and drivers up front it defeats the purpose of doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Had you followed the steps in that tutorial you would have a perfect install with no corruption whatsoever. The factory install with all of the crapware is the worst possible install by comparison.

I asked if you still have a System Restore before you installed the Toshiba crapware and drivers?

my system restore only allows me to restore from yesterday 21st april, so no.

It's important to try to remember when the Shutdown began hanging. Maybe one of the the restore points from the 21st can get before it? Then we need to take a look at what was done after that point in time.

Does it Shutdown okay now?

Are all Windows Updates installed, both Important and Optional? (besides Bingware?)

There are many steps which have stacked up with no results posted, so please take some time to work back through them and report back results on each so we know what you have done.

That is a normal Shutdown listing. What you'd be looking for is another Error, Critical or Warning event nearby that shows what is happening that is hanging the Shutdown.

If that doesn't provide clues then try Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace - Windows 7 Forums which will trace the exact cause in a chart.

Most likely the problem is caused by the bloatware which was reinstalled defeating the purpose of a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. I would strongly consider doing it over, but this time before the actual install boot into the installation media's System Recovery Options to open a Command Line and wipe the hard drive of all code with Diskpart Clean Command .

Be sure to read over the steps in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which if followed closely will result in a perfect install. This time only import the exact Toshiba programs you know you need and use. Get all of your drivers from Windows Update before importing any. Ask back if you have any questions so you understand each step fully before proceeding.

hi there, on the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 link you sent. i read it and i dont understand NO.1 which says Burn ISO to DVD or write to USB flash stick. how do i do this ?

Don't you have a Win7 installation DVD with SP1? That's all the download is. If you got it from a legit source then you don't need to worry about downloading and burning another unless there are problems stalling the installation.

The ISO files are provided mainly for those who bought Win7 on a computer in a store and weren't given the installation media to do reinstalls or repairs.
