OK so I cloned my hdd using EaseUS. I cloned Win 7 pro on a seagate 500gb hdd to a WD 2tb Hdd.
The clne went fine. So next I detached the 500gb and connected the 2tb hdd with the fresh clone. Everything booted OK and I can run my program's as normal. However there are some things not functioning. If you do a search, Windows will only search program folders from the start button. If you click on search elsewhere, nothing happens, no explorer page opens. Windows update doesn't work, if you open up indexing options there is no indexing folder. Usually it says something like programData/Microsoft/search. You can't rebuild the index, you can't turn indexing on. Not that I want it on, and also troubleshooter will not start reporting a fault saying restricted. So even though it's an exact clone, it's conflicted somehow.

Any help appreciated.:p

Yeah right, clones can be iffy. I had similar experiences although other people seem to happy with their clones.

I prefer to transfer the OS via an image. That always worked and never gave me a problem. I use free Macrium.

Yes, I'm now using a system image to restore the disk and see if that works. I think I may know the mistake I made on the original clone. I don't think I included the reserved partition on the old drive. Anyway, I will soon see if the results of restoring my image will cure anything.

(Edit)
OK so now image is restored, but still same problem which I cannot fathom. Normaly when you type a word into the search box it will look everywhere, and if you click on 'see more results' it should open up explorer, but nothing happens.
