My computer was working okay yesterday, but when I tried starting it up today, all I get is a black screen. The fans are still running, my motherboard was showing a red light for the CPU. I want to know if it's a CPU failure, or my GPU.
CPU: AMD FX 8350
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R.2.0
GPU: EVGA GTX 660 2GB SC
PSU: Corsair CX600M
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper 1600Mhz 2x4GB

Hey bud, the first thing I would do personally would be to reset the bios in this situation. I don't know about your particular motherboard, but most new ones have a button to do this, or a jumper. Failing that, you can go "old school" and remove the CMOS Battery for a couple of mins.

See if that gets it to boot again.

Paul.

I tried the jumpers, but it still didn't work also I hear my hard drives powering down, and attempting to restart.

In that case I would go back to basics, remove cpu, check for bent pins, re-seat cpu, and cooler, remove everything else, just try it with 1 stick of ram etc, see if that helps things. I don't recall many cpu's ever going bad, it could be the motherboard, but test everything out first.
