when i OC, i was planning on setting the base clock to 4gz, and turbo to 4.5ghz. i think that would keep temps fairly cool when not gaming, and even maybe when gaming. if the OS no need the extra speed, it wont use it

ordered my audio cables and intake fan. now i just have to order the other ram stick and ODD.

for the ODD, should i get a new one, or get an adapter for the one i have?

You need to choose the bottom right tab icon, answer a few questions, then close & re-open.

Sorry, I was referring to IE8 & IE9. I have not upgraded to IE10 yet. But there should be something similar to stop it.

question... the CPU fan automatically scales according to cpu temp rite? like there shoul be notin in the bios that i have to mess with?

alright. its just that i dont hear it ramping up much at all. now in MSI bios, theres an option to control the fan like. it will try to keep it at a certain temp and adjust the fan to what you choose to keep it there

so i guesss all this stuttering and micro lag in my games is due to having only 1 ram stick and not being able to run in dual channel mode even though im only using 3.5gb max at times?

The fact you don't hear it hopefully means the extra revolutions the fan is spinning is still below the ambient noise threshold.

If that's the black viper I am thinking of... I think the consensus here is to avoid messing with Win7 like that. Windows 7 does not need any particular optimization to run fine like say XP or Vista did. Unused services get frozen automatically and don't impact performance the same way they did in XP.

alright. there is really no way to measure temp because all my programs are reading 8 degrees C at idle....

i just wanted to barebones as much as possible. this computer goes on the internet, and plays games lol. thats pretty much it for now. in the future it will probs be my main PC

Dunno mate, what games you playing and at what settings?

mainly farcry 3 and BF3 are the biggest notices. bf 3 i think is a mix between really poor internet speed but farcy3 shouldent have that problem. fc3 im believe im at high for all settings and 2x AA

You may want to drop the settings a little, see if that improves things, the 560ti was a good card but these games are quite demanding on both the GPU and CPU.

Paul is exactly right Quad. Have a read through this guide for BF3, it explains all the settings and which have the most impact.

alright ill take a lok at that! thanks! but when i get the other stick of ram, performance will increase quite a bit correct? also a new router lol
