I have no idea why this is happening.

When I get up in the morning , the PC is frozen once I click on any desktop icon or in the task bar. This has been happening for a week and I tearing my hair out, what is left of it. I have removed the printer driver -HP C7280 and also the external eSata HDD (caddy) but this didn't make any difference. There is no BSOD , no error message. I cannot Ctrl/alt/delete. Only "reset button" to do a hard reboot. It only happens when I get up in the morning/overnight. I can happily play my COD5 WaW without any issues all day. I have updated to the latest Nvdia Drivers for W7 from official website 191.07. I have done a full scan with MBAM 1.41 latest definitions and found no malware/spyware.

Do you use sleep, hibernate, or hybrid sleep? It's something the experts will probably want to know.

Also, it does not happen until you click on something? Does it recover if you wait? Does it go to normal after reboot?

No sleep , no hibernate , no hybrid sleep. See attached screenshot

Yes only when I click on icon either in taskbar or desktop.

No I have to select normal reboot , I get the menu that windows did not shutdown properly and range of options , I have to select normal (if I don't it will still reboot normally)

I notice this in my power plan and did a toubleshooting report Windows 7 fixed it. Could this be the problem? When I get up in morning, there is no screensaver, just the normal desktop with my icons showing..

Screen saver is enabled Fixed

Using a screen saver instead of having the display go to sleep uses more power.
Disable screensaver Completed

Turning the screen saver off will help reduce power usage.

The troubleshooting could have fixed it. I have had network problems fixed before.

I also am wondering if Windows update has found a bad driver and at 3:00 every morning it installs it. Is WU set to auto?

WU is set to check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

Towle, that would not be it then. Maybe someone can look at your event viewer. I'm not very good with those. Don't have the patience. If I get some time I will look at it. Go through it and see if you can see the errors.
