hey everyone.

Well, windows 7 Professional insists on freezing. i've updated all drivers, ran disk check, defraged, uninstalled programs I don't need but still... It's hard for me to say what's causing it cause sometimes I can go through a few hours without it happening and sometimes it happens one minute or so after entering to OS. I have also reinstalled the system a few times but nothing helped.

Sometimes after freezing I restart the computer and the system takes about 30-60 minutes to come up.

i'm attaching a mini-dump crash file for you. I would very very much appreciate your help here. I can't even revert to XP. for better or worst i'm stuck with Windows 7 which I find great, except for driving me crazy in the last two weeks and stealing so much from my time.

If there are more minidump files, please upload all of them - that will help us to see if there's a pattern to the crashes.

This crash is a STOP 0x101 - BSOD Index

There's entries for FASTFAT.SYS in the stack - are you using a FAT formatted disk anywhere in your system?
Is it possible to remove the FAT formatted disk while you test the system?

Finally, slsk.exe (a process that was running when the crash occurred) is considered a harmful file (one example here: slsk.exe - Process Library - PC Pitstop Libraries ). As such, I'd wonder if the system was infected - and if the infection was responsible for the crashes. Please post over in the Security forums for assistance in cleaning your system: System Security - Windows 7 Forums

Older drivers that were loaded when the crash occurred. Please update them ASAP:

more BSODS

Hey

Thanks for the answer. Well, the file system of my external hard drive is FAT32. that's where I keep all files (Except for system files, programs and so on) and smart to have done that.

I'm adding more BSOD mini-crush dump reports.

One more thing, everytime the computer hangs of freezes i got the impression it's caused by something else. are there any more reports or event logs i can upload for the problem to be diagnosed?

Thanks a lot for the help.

These devices are disabled on your system - can you uninstall them and remove the devices from the system?
Code:
Photosmart C4500 series ROOT\IMAGE\0001 This device is disabled.
Unknown Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&732A4AC&0&4 This device is disabled.
Microsoft PS/2 Port Mouse (IntelliPoint) ACPI\PNP0F03\4&316EBAA8&0 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
Photosmart C4500 series ROOT\MULTIFUNCTION\0000 This device is disabled.
Photosmart C4500 series ROOT\MULTIFUNCTION\0001 This device is disabled.

Also, lot's of USB errors in the MSINFO32 report. Please disconnect all USB devices from the system until we're finished testing.

Info on the STOP 0x101 errors: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-...lock-interrupt-bsod-101-error.html#post356791

So, please ensure that your BIOS is updated.
Then ensure that you've checked to see if there's a hardware issue with the system (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)
Then check the drivers using Driver Verifier (using the following procedure):
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Automatically select unsigned drivers" and click "Next"
If no drivers show up, then select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.
If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line.

thank you

hey

wanted to thank you again for all your help, especially during the holiday, was very thoughtful of you.

anyhow, i had to format the computer since i was a bit fed up with it hanging every five minutes and since i definitely had to continue working on things for the uni.

for the moment everything runs perfectly fine and i'm just gonna try not to burden my computer with driver that i can also leave without. at least until the Microsoft releases driver updates or the manufacturers themselves.

Hi. Uninstall this driver from the system:

Spyder3 Spyder3.sys Mon Sep 10 09:11:10 2007

You may have to use the device manager set to view | show hidden devices to find it it non plug and play section. Tell Windows to delete the file while doing so. Reboot.

You also have AVG, the worst scourge of the internet worse than a virus. Completely uninstall that and you will be well. Do not just disable as that will not help.

Please update the program/driver that belongs to the Spyder3.sys Mon Sep 10 09:11:10 2007
Most likely belongs to Spyder3Elite Display Calibration System from Datacolor

If that doesn't fix it, then it's likely to be a hardware issue or a compatibility problem.
Have you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor? If not, please run it now - it's free from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...90-7659-4BD9-9E51-2497C146AF15&displaylang=en

If that doesn't fix it, then it's probably hardware. In order to rule that out, try installing another OS on it to see if it works without issues.

Essentially the same BSOD as last time:

again

hey there again

I'm sorry that i have to keep on writing here but i keep on getting BSODs

I've updated every possible thing, checked with the windows 7 upgrade advisor and uninstalled the AVG anti virus program but it just seems to come back and back.

When i check the driver manager i do see a usb device with a warning sign next to it but whenever i try to disable it or to uninstall the system just reinstalls in the next boot.

I simply don't know what to do anymore. At least now, as opposed to the period before i decided to make a clean install of windows 7, the system doesn't freeze anymore, it simply turns to the BSOD which saves me a lot of headache when restarting.

I'm attaching more minidump files for you to check and scratching my head trying to think creatively as to what the problem might be.

And another question - where can i find a reliable source for updating drivers collectively without needing to pay for registration for the program?

and just one more thing - my computer has entries for camera memory cards, which i don't use for the moment, could the problem be there perhaps? and if so, how can i safely remove all of them without them being automatically reinstalled when i restart my computer?

thanks a million once again.

Don't ever use those driver update services, free or otherwise. They can ruin a Windows install quicker than a virus can, and at times do. Always visit manufacturer's websites for drivers.

This is still on the system, most likely causing bsod:

Spyder3 Spyder3.sys Mon Sep 10 09:11:10 2007

To be good to the system also, install latest 15.51 chipset drivers from here (guru3d.com always has good drivers too and is right to use):

oh no

i'm getting now BSOD with almost every time after about 2-3 minutes.

i've uninstalled the spyder3elite driver but apparently it's not helping so much.

and still, when ever i disable this usb driver it just reappears. no error appears, it just stays there.

i'm adding more minidumps.

i'm really helpless here. why is that happening? i'm far from being a computer expert so i really feel lost. especially since it's a new computer i'm using.

You still have

nvm62x32 nvm62x32.sys Fri Oct 17 17:00:39 2008

which should be updated with the chipset driver link I gave.

http://downloads.guru3d.com/nForce-15.51-WHQL-Windows-7-and-Vista-32-bit-download-2401.html

--------------------

You still have AVG installed. Or at least the drivers for it. Uninstall and check the driver folder for any .sys files beginning with avg and delete. Use safe mode if you have to.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers

--------------------

Should be good after these two things.

If after you do these it runs well, you can test how the spyder.sys driver is by reinstalling.

One step at a time though.

hey

I did what I was told. don't want to jinx it but it's running problem free for the moment, I reinstalled spyder3elite (since my work is depending on a well calibrated screen.

Is there a way of making sure now that all those things that I was supposed to get rid off are indeed erased?
