Computer/Manage context Menu Platinum message

Well done AndyDigital!! I got the annoying Context Menu Platinum message every time I connected to my Windows Virtual PC (on Windows 7 64-bit OS). Simply deleting the "Fileminimizer" programme, which came free with NERO 9, solved the problem. In the process of deleting Fileminimizer using the uninstall option in the programme list (not the programme list in the Control Panel but the one from your START button) gives you the opportunity to tell the owners 'balesio' what you think of them, so others should tell them exactly what they think! My next e-mail tomorrow morning will be to NERO Customer Service. Co-incidentally, NERO 9 for Windows 7 on-line purchase also offers you the FREE TuneUp Facility 2009 package. This package is NOT compatible with Windows 7 - you have to pay extra for the 2010 TuneUp version, which apparently IS compatible - another reason to complain to NERO!

I know this is an older thread, but I am having same sort of problem with this context platinum thing. I read the threads, but honestly don't understand what they mean. I was trying to backup my computer, and when I go to control panel and try to choose backup I get a screen that says I need to register this program. It won't let me go past it, and the website doesn't seem to have a place to register. I have no idea where this program came from, and I looked and don't have that fileminimizer program, or the Nero one that others were talking about. Again, it isn't on my add-remove program list either. I did try to email that company to ask them how to make it go away, but no answer either.

Can anyone maybe help me, and explain in simple terms as I am not that knowledgeable about these file .exe things that others mentioned. It is SOOOOOO frustrating!

Even i had a similar problem recently. Search for shellmenu.exe in your program files and try to delete that file or see your recently installed programs and remove them one at a time from program files not from the control panel and see whether you are still having the problem or not. I hope it helps!! :D

ShellExView is the key here! Thanks, Capt. Jack. I don't know how this got on my computer - not intentionally, and I don't use Nero. But it did get there and was very resistant to removal. But his advice worked perfectly!

This is the only forum where I found the recommendation, btw, and it was a happy discovery!

Simple Solution

Find for a mill called "ShellMenu.exe", then rename it to "ShellMenu.xyz". Thats it, the next time you switch on ur PC, you wont get an annoying message asking you to register, when you try to access the context menu

I really appreciate you posts but it seems your problem comes as a result of installing Nero.So ones you try removing these files(ShellMenu.exe, fileminimizer etc) your problem is solve. To tell you i have no nero on my pc and yet i have it and all effort made to allocate these file mentioned above failed.I embarked on series of research and found another cause. You might have installed a video-call setup driver from an untrusted site for Facebook,G mail etc .Just go to control panel, program uninstall and remove the driver provided you have it on your pc.Restart your pc and you are free from context Menu Platinum message
