Computer will not load past biosys

My computer starts up like normal says dell and F12 for biosys. After that it goes black. The windows logo does not come up, I can not enter safe mode, no mouse or keyboard function other then in biosys. I can enter biosys but don't know if there is anything I can do in there. Once it goes past biosys it stuck on black screen and only thing to do is turn it off which it turns off right away. No hold down for 5 seconds. Also over the past week whenever I have started it or woke it from sleep mode the screen flashes 6-8 times before it pops on. Is there anything I can do? I might be able to reinstall windows again but then I am afraid of losing all my data.

That tells me that none of Windows has started loading as usually, as you have mentioned, one has to hold down the power button for a bit more than 6 seconds for it to shut down. When in the BIOS setup have you checked to see if the hard drive [HDD or SSD] is recognized, could be it has failed? Is the Optical drive recognized?

I did a full preboot system assessment and hard drive said running everything else passed. I'm a quick learner but not all that knowledgeable about this stuff. Also my computer monitor has been flashing on and off for the past week or so leading up to this. It still does when I wake it from sleep mode. I thought it was the video card so I connected VGA to original card.
