Connecting to My ISP via Quick Launch

Hello. This is my second day with W7 and I'm very impressed with it. With Vista, I had the 'My ISP' icon in the Quick Launch bar which was very handy. Now that I've managed to enable the W7 Quick Launch, can anyone tell me how to put the My ISP icon there so that I can connect with just one click as with Vista?

Are you dual booting, or just have Windows 7 now? If you still have Vista installed as well, we probably can copy and paste the shortcut from there to the correct place in 7.

The Windows 7 taskbar is much like the old Quicklaunch - an the same Winkey + # shortcuts now work for items pinned to the taskbar. You best bet is to pin it to the taskbar (and you can drag it to whatever position) and then you can use the winkey + # shortcut again as before in Vista.

O course, this is assuming that that is the method you were previously employing to have quick access to your Quick launch items in Vista....

Thanks both. I've got Vista on C and W7 on D. With Vista, the ISP shortcut is located in Users/Appdata/Roaming/etc but there's no such file on W7. I can't see how you could copy and paste from Vista to W7 as it would be lost in the 'restart'. I've scoured Network Connections but just can't see a way of creating a shortcut for My ISP.

Copy the Vista shortcut and paste it here:

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERINSTEAD\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Replace YOURUSERNAMEHERINSTEAD with your Windows 7 user name.

Hmmm, not sure what you mean, torrentg. The Vista shortcut is already in that location. Changing my username has no effect on the shortcut when used in W7 ("My ISP not found"). And I can't put the shortcut in the equivalent W7 'Users' folder as it doesn't have Appdata.

As a matter of interest, is there a W7 equivalent of Appdata? (Edit: exact same folder exists - I just had to select 'view hidden files & folders' in Folder Options)

Anyhoo, problem solved - I can now click once on my Firefox QuickLaunch icon and MyISP is dialled automatically. That never happened in Vista.
