I need to start a new post. I left from here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/microsoft-office/262823-primary-contact-address-unviewable.html#post2169221

Why? I am losing control with the contacts. What I did in Outlook 2003 (on my old Xp machine) was to export to *.pst
1) Contact.pst 2) Contact1.pst 3) Ruth’s Contacts.psd.

Now I had three backups. I installed fresh Windows 7. I installed Outlook 2007. I selected “Contact”. I then drilled down to mailing settings >datafiles > add. After adding the three Contact pst folders I moved Contact.pst (Primary List) up to the top. However, when I went to ‘send to’ in the drop down box “Contact” wasn’t viewable. I had to go to Properties.
Under 'Outlook Address Book' and clicked on enable to 'show this folder as an address book'. However, if I create a new e-mail to send and then I click on the "to" button to bring up the list of recipients and then I click on Contacts in the drop down list I can access my correct contact list – ‘Contact’. However, in the drop down list I see ‘Contact1’ and ‘Contact’ and another ‘Contact’ and Ruth. I now have two ‘Contact’ listed and they are both different addresses.

As is the fashion once you use an e-mail address, then you only have to prompt it with one or two letters in the "to" box without accessing the dropdown list at all. My prompts, however, are only able to draw on the secondary list ‘Contacts1’ and not my proper working list I honed in Outlook 2003 which should be ‘Contact’.

If I receive an e-mail from a new person and I want to add them to my Contacts by right-clicking on their address, then I end up adding that contact to the secondary list.

I don’t know what to do. If I go to Contacts I now have six contact folders? I have no idea how they expanded from 3 to 6 folders.

What I want to do is start fresh. Should I go into >mail settings > data files > add and remove all the contacts? Restart Outlook. Look to see if the contact area is empty and then add – one at a time – firstly ‘Contact’ and test it ; and then add the other two? I am absolutely lost. In Outlook 2003 everything was in harmony and working as expected. I just need to get control on the Contact(s) and manage accordingly. Thanks for indulging this long complaint. Let me know if there is a work around.

Thanks : I will study these links : I have another incident : in Contact - if I click on 'Contacts' it opens up showing
a list from A-Z. If I go to send and I click on 'Contacts' I can see the list from A-Z however many entries are not showing. For example Abeloz, Abandar is not showing. If I do an advanced search search finds this name in Contacts. It is in the list. How is it that in 'sent to' in the drop down list 'Contacts' I cannot view all the listings?
Thanks
