Solved Corrupted Hard drive? Ugh

Your options are difference from what I can choose from. My 3 choices for a partition to select using DISKPART are these:
Partition 1 Type: Recovery Size: 1500 MB Offset 1024KB
Partition 2 Type: Primary Size: 288GB Offset 1501MB
Partition 3 Type: Primary Size: 8108MB Offset: 290GB

I have the Partition 1 selected now. IS that right?

fixed it but spent 35 bucks to do exactly what that guide u gave me told me. I didn't realize you had to hold down '0' BEFORE turning on the computer..

I don't know what a "recovery" disc is. I only know what a system repair disc is. I only know how to create the disc.

If you use a System Repair Disc and it doesn't find an operating system, then did you choose System Repair from the list of options shown?

A recovery disc is what a manufacturer provides to allow you to restore your computer to factory settings. It is NOT a disc bought from a third-party website.

You need your recovery media from your manufacturer. They either sent these with the computer or you were supposed to make them yourself through a utility provided within Windows. If you do not have these discs, you will need to order a set from your manufacturer.

What I am confused about is why then, when I first used the Repair cd, there was a 6th option at the bottom of the System Recovery Options menu that said "Toshiba Advanced Repair" and it let me click that then choose to reformat the hard drive and gave me warnings that all my data will be lost (which I wanted). But after that, with the SAME CD, there is no option under the Command Prompt option.

This is because the CD that you have is designed to recognize recovery partitions and give you the option of using that partition if it is there. That partition has now been destroyed, which is why you no longer see it as an option.

It's quite clear if you can follow clearly written steps:

To restore the original factory software image on your computer follow these steps:

1. Make sure the computer is turned off ("Shut-down" from the Windows Start menu)
2. Remove any peripherals such an external mouse, keyboard, monitor, USB flash drive etc.
3. Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged in and working.
4. Press and hold down the 0 (zero) key on the keyboard while powering on the computer. Release it when the recovery warning screen appears.
5. If the recovery process offers a choice of Operating Systems, select the appropriate one for you.
6. A warning screen appears, stating that when the recovery is executed all data will be deleted and rewritten.
7. Click Yes to continue.
8. When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens select "Recovery of Factory Software" or the appropriate option for your needs.
9. Continue to follow the directions restarting as necessary.

Now make your Factory Recovery Disks so you have a backup method for the future:

Not quite "clear". I interpretted it as being the same as when you initiate the System Options or Boot Menu. As in holding the button AFTER turning the computer on..but whatever, I fixed it despite your so called expertise.
