I'd like to upgrade my CPU to something with a faster FSB. I'm currently using Pentium D 930 3.0Ghz (800FSB). The following is a link with my current motherboard specs:

Motherboard Specifications, P5LP-LE (Emery) HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7367c Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

It says that it supports a 1066 FSB but doesn't hint at what or which CPU's. My guess is that some of the early Core 2's with the 1066 FSB would likely work considering they're re-branded/boxed Pentium D's essentially. Anyone know of anyone having gone this route?

You'll notice on the HP site to my motherboard there is no mention of the current CPU I'm running which came with the computer when I purchased it from Fry's. It only makes mention of the following two:

  • Pentium D 800 series Smithfield core up to 3.2 GHz
  • Pentium 4 Prescott core up to 580 and 670

Could also be the BIOS (latest is v 5.23, I think). Release notes say "Updates CPU microcode" but HP hasn't updated their support list yet.

Odd, When I purchased the PC it came with Windows XP Media Center 2005. It only shows the current BIOS as being version 3.19 for the P5LP-LE. The BIOS 5.23 is for Vista.

I'm now running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit build 6.1.7600.16385. There is also more than (1) type of P5LP-LE HP offers. One being the Emery (mine) and the other being the Leonite. So which board would this BIOS apply to?

I'm currently running BIOS 3.19. System specs are as follows:

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Build 6.1.7600.16385 (fully updated)
Asus P5LP-LE (Emery) BIOS version 3.19
4GB PC2-DDR2-5300 667mhz Crucial
Gigabyte HD Radeon 4670 512mb DDR3 (CCC-10.12)
Maxtor 300Gb SATA-150
Hitachi SATA-300 1TB
Sound Blaster X-fi Extreme gamer (drivers are current)
HP 840b DVD/CD-RW DL
DVD-ROM
Thermaltake 430w PSU
