Creating folder in W7 says cannot find item and works on retry.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, but really don't know where else to place it.

For some weeks (probably even longer) I am experiencing a really annoying issue. Whenever I create a new folder on one of my HDD's, SSD or partition it says "Cannot find item. This is no longer located in ... Verify the item's location and try again."

When I click retry it always works. At first I thought it was just one of my harddisks who was getting old, however it also happens on any partition on the SSD.

This only happens when I create folders. It doesn't happen when I create a new file (for example .txt document). At first I wasn't really annoyed, however I am now copying stuff from on partition to another and, well you can guess it, it complains about it on every folder it creates (for copying the files).

I have no clue what's wrong here. I doubt it's a hardware error. The Windows logfiles don't mention this. And, as I said above, there are no issues when I click retry. So in short; it asks every time to try again when I create a (new) folder.

I have experienced tons of weird stuff in my 28 year Windows experience, however this one is one of the strangest I have encountered. :|

Any ideas or solutions on how to fix this, other than reinstalling. Like I said before; it's nothing serious, but just something annoying.

Using Windows 7 with all latest mumbo jumbo and I always keep my computer clean by running defrags (only on HDD's), running CCleaner, run once a month Combofix and Anti-Malware weekly. Also running the latest drivers for everything or where possible. UAC is completely disabled (hate it) and running free Bitdefender (but this isn't the problem).

I will reinstall Windows, when Windows 10 comes out of testing, however that will take a "few" weeks.

If I forgot to mention something, please ask. I really want to solve this annoying issue.

Nobody has an idea on how to solve this issue?
FYI: I didn't have this before. Maybe it's a Windows update in the past 1 or 2 months?

Nevermind. I think I fixed it by applying the "fix" mentioned here: Renaming any folder produces "Could not find this item". - Microsoft Community

Maybe someone else might be interested in this as well. I have uploaded the fix for Windows 7 (x64 version only!) as an attachement. It fixes or makes the necessary changes in the registry.

I will reboot now and see if it indeeds keeps working, if so I won't be reporting back. :)

The links are still active. Does it not fix your problem? Did you merge the correct bit fix?

If you have used the correct bit fix and restarted (still open regedit and check the keys manually) then I can only think of:
- a clean startup - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
- disable Explorer hooks - get CCleaner - tools - startup - context menu - save to txt file or screenshot - disable the entries
- scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free just in case

I have Indexing turned off for my desktop and one of my friends PCs. No such issues. But of course that doesn't mean much :)

I tried all that but still doing the "could not find item" problem. They keys are there when I manually checked and I used the .reg file multiple times and restarted each but it still happens

Got a thought.

Check AVG quarantined folder and see what is in there.

Might be AVG causing the problem.
For a test you could remove all of AVG using their online removal tool and then install MSE and see if the problem is still there.
