what caused the problem: inserting a usb mouse ive been using for half a year. i got a bsod and now the D partition is broken. already tried re-installing C with a new windows, but no luck.

How can i try to get the data out of D if thats possible? i already ran some kind of live CD, but it couldnt access the D partition...
i need something strong, and if its not possible to get any data, whats a good formatting app?

help is really appriciated.

R-Studio is a pretty good data recovery program.

Did you try to repair the Win7 installation using the DVD Repair console or Repair CD to run Startup Repair repeatedly? http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html?ltr=S
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

You might need to make sure Win7 partition is still marked active before Startup Repair will work. Use the DVD or Repair CD command line: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/71432-partition-mark-active.html

If this fails, report back with any error messages. We will try to help you get it started unless your failed install attempt damaged or removed Win7.

If so try recovering the lost partitions with Paragon Backup & Recovery Free Edition - Free Download after burning it to CD. If this fails, copy the data off using it's data recovery feature.

You can then clean the HD with Diskpart from the DVD/CD Command Line, then Custom reinstall using Drive Options to create and format partition:

how....since windows wont boot anymore because it wants to check D disk...but it cant, it crashes at checking for errors.

I cant skip the check for error screen. It says press any button within ten seconds, but no key responds.
I did a hard drive test using some kind of linux live cd, and it already failed at trying to read data from the drive.

I also tried the paragon cd, doesnt work. If i try to recover a corrupted partition it asks for a image file or something. And when i try the file manager thing, it sees some standard folders on de D partition, folders that shouldnt be there and nothing from my data.
