@kword88

Hey kword88 This Is All It Shows For Drivers. It Don't Show Me What Drivers To Use, It Just Says Unknown Or Unsupported, Then Says To Contact The Manufacturer. I'm Not Sure How To Go About Doing This, Any Ideas Or Any Links To A Dell Optiplex 755 Going To Windows 7 Ultimate?
Thanx In Advance!

Try the Vista 32 bit. You may need to run them in compatibility mode. I'm not sure they will work but worth a shot. Get the newest by date if more than one is listed for each driver.

At the top of that page is a "scan your system for updates" button. It should get them automatically.

If yours are newer then don't use the ones on this page. Just get the newer than you already have.
Someone else may have some ideas if you wait a bit.

The serial port driver will be part of the chipset drivers of which Windows should have, but in this case doesn't appear to, native support for. One thing you can do is if you don't use the serial port and assuming Dell hasn't hidden the option in the bios, is to go into the bios and disable it.

Looking at the list of available Vista downloads for that computer,

Drivers & Downloads

in all likelihood the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is a good old dial up modem (Dell must have a warehouse full of these things, because it looks like they are still including them even in their most recent computers). If that is what it is and you don't use it, the easiest and best solution is to open the case up and just remove it. If you do use it I wold go with the Vista driver for from the link above.

I had the same problem with the 755. I downloaded the AMT SOL/LMS and the AMT HECI for Vista even though i had 7 and it took care of my problem.

Dell Optiplex 755 Chipset Drivers

Hey Guys , I had The Chipset Drivers Installed (Vista 32 Bit) But Had To Format HDD. Someone Told Me That The Installation Utility For The Chipset Was At Fault. There Is A Way To Download Them And Then Try To Update Driver Through Device Manager, But I Can Not Remember How I Did It. Has Anybody Out There Done It The Way I Described?? Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated, Thanx In Advance!

Hey Guys , Just Thought I Would Post back And Let Ya Know I Figured It Out! You Have To Download The AMT-SOL & HECI & The Installation Utility To Your Desktop, Then Open Devise Manager, Right Click On The PCI's With The Yellow Exclamation Mark, Left Click Update Driver, Left Click Browse, Put "C:" In Search Box And It Will Look Until It Finds Your Chipset On Your Desktop Or What Ever Folder You Saved Your Chipset To. Thanx M$ Your Quite A Help In These Matters!!!! LOL!! Hope This Helps Some Poor Soul Out There. Thanx For All Your Insight Guys!

Windows 7: Dell Optiplex 755 Driver

This is a late post but it may be another answer to the original post that may help someone. I am just getting started with Win7 (kicking and screaming all the way!).

The following article addresses both issues of the 755 doing unexpected resets and the unknown entries in Device Manager. Interesting reading, and appears well written.

Hope this helps some. http://www.sevenforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

A lot of Dell drivers have to be obtained from Dell.com directly, as mentioned earlier.
