Disabled Driver

Hello there. I've just rebuilt/upgraded my rig with a new mobo, ram & a clean version of windows 7. The build has been going great until a few hours ago when the computer started crashing. (Screen would freeze, then the speakers would let out a loud buzzing sound for several seconds before windows restarted itself).

Anyway, after altering this & that, I finally (fingers crossed) believe I've sorted the above, so onto the question in hand.

When I was updating all the drivers I accidently clicked "disable" on a item labled "AMD IO Driver" (in device manager). There were two of these on display, now there is only one I can see, nor does the other reappear if I click "Show hidden Devices". Now no audio will come out of the computer audio ports.

I can start programs such as media player, and get them to play music (the visualization move, and if I left click the sound icon in the item tray, the bar moves up/down) but no sound will come out of any of the headphone/line out ports.

I've reloaded the drivers that came with my motherboard, but they say something about no sound device detected and in bios the audio is enabled.

Any idea on how to re-enable the ports other than reinstalling windows all over again?

Sorry if this is a rather long winded or confusing post.
Any advice/suggestions most welcome.

Hello again.

I decided to do a complete reinstall of Windows 7 (formating the HD completely prior to install).
There is still only one AMD IO driver in the list and there is still no audio out of any port.

Any suggestions? I'm at wits end with this thing.
