Pity this thread is marked as solved, as I have this problem, and, having plodded through the thread, I find that it was terminated due to the OP having a pirated copy of Windows.
The last ever post simply gave the way to fire up the console window for computer management - the problem I have is that clicking on Disk Management gets stuck with the message at the bottom of the window 'Connecting to Virtual Disk Service'. I checked that the Virtual Disk Service is running.
(I think) this is the first time I have run Disk Management since I did a Repair W7 from the original DVD, so it actually should be more perfect than before !!
Is there a CMD command that does the same thing? Any help gratefully received. My system is W7 Pro SP1 and is very legal.
I need to get into Disk Management as I want to re-partition a disk before dumping a load of stuff on it. As it is, I can only see the single 8GB partition, when I need the full 250GB !!
