Display Driver Stopped Responding - ATI Radeon HD3200

I've been running Windows 7 for several months with no issues from my display driver. Yesterday, everything froze. I rebooted and got the BSOD. Rebooted again and everything seemed to work until startup. I got an unending loop of everything freezing, then the screen display going blank/coming back on, and getting a system tray message reading "The display driver stopped responding and recovered." I've been through several forum suggestions (from here and others) and still no success. Most of the suggestions involve fully removing any traces of the ATI driver (using Driver Sweeper) and installing ATI Catalyst. One thing I did notice is that everytime I reboot to normal mode, I get a message that the ATI Radeon HD3200 driver (Microsoft WDDM 1.1) has been installed. The only way I can navigate is by booting to safe mode and disabling the ATI driver. :mad2:

well the driver sweeper method would also be my first suggestion.
There's really only two viable posibilities here with a consistent error like that.
1 the driver or installation thereof is corrupted
2 the physical device (the graphics card) is failing.

You should be able to run driver sweeper in safe mode.
You can also disable windows automatic driver installation at startup

• Go to Start–>Search type in gpedit.msc
• Click the file to open the Local Group Policy Editor and show Windows who is in control!!
• You want to go here: Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->System->Device Installation. Click on the subfolder Device Installation on the left and on the right side you will see the possible restrictions.
• Right Click on Prevent Installation of Devices not described by other policy settings and edit this option, set it on ENABLED.
  Reboot Windows and enjoy its inability to pollute your system with its standard driver, open gpedit.msc again and revert the change so you will be able to install your driver.

Boot the computer
Go to windows update and right click on the driver, and then hide.
You will no longer get that notification.
