We just upgraded to a DLink DIR 835 Dual Band Router. All devices can connect to the WiFi channels and all devices but one work fine. I have one desktop that says it is connected to the WIFI with internet access but none of the browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE) can connect. I can see the MAC address of the computer in the router admin. I have tried all the usual - power down/up on PC, Router, Windows Troubleshooting, ipconfig /release /renew /flushDNS

Windows Firewall is turned OFF. I took all security off the network.

AVG Free is the a/v. It's firewall is OFF and gives the message "Internet is blocked or not connected" when I try to turn it on.

Any thoughts?

Here's the Xirrus screenshot:

You are showing a valid IP for this connection, with the connection showing as good yet the browser can't go anywhere it's usually a winsock or TCP/IP problem.

To fix these types of problems unzip and run the file below, it will reset the entire network stack and reboot your machine automatically. Let me know if the browser change their behavior after this.

You will definitely want to turn the Windows firewall back on and add the security back to the wireless network.

I can only advise that you remove AVG using the special removal tool which you can download from the link.

Something is blocking the connection and it's showing a valid IP.

You can even see the connection there with a valid IP showing so something is still blocking the connection. I started with the most likely solution but this machine is well beyond that.

Maybe I should ask if the wired connection works at all? You may want to consider resetting the new router or updating the firmware on the DIR-835 via the following link.
http://support.dlink.ca/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-835

If the router adjustments don't have an effect on the problem I would consider starting up in safe mode with Networking, if you can connect in safe mode then you can be sure that something installed on this machine is causing the problem.

Behaves exactly the same in Safe with Networking mode. And yes the wireless is working - all other computers connected have no problems and the kids Minecraft client lets them connect to a multiplayer server. But no browsers will connect - Chrome, Firefox or IE. Seems like it's something with the IP protocols.

Misread your questions. I disabled the Wired connection because at one point I thought it was the problem - the computer connected to it first and the drivers were never installed (this computer isn't sitting where a wired connection is possible.

It's acting more like a DNS problem. Have you entered a proper DNS server into the routers settings for DNS servers? Google's DNS is a good place to start at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Have you tried updating the firmware on the new router to the latest version?

I posted a link to the new firmware in my last post.

If this problem is now solved I'm sure we'd all like to know what fixed it. :)
