Do you like cats?

Do I like cats? Yes I do. But I think I lean a little bit more toward being a dog lover.

Still, I love my neighbor's cat. His name is Turbo. He comes around on a regular basis, snooping in our yard and everybody else's yard. When I pet him, he's usually pretty affectionate.

My nieces have a couple of cats, too -- Oreo and Honey. Based on what my brother tells me, they specialize in bringing dead mice into the house. :shock:

However my choice is to live with 2 well socialized, well schooled, obedient, independent pedigreed Labradors who
encourage me to exercise daily every day of the year,
lower my blood pressure
& offer unprecedented loyalty and companionship.
I can always rely on them to stand by my side, listening to my problems, and offering affection.

As for

Cats are smarter, more independent, can see better, have a brain more similar to ours.

Realistically, cats aren't that smart. They've just perfected the look.


My mate hates cats because he's terrified of them. Their eyes freak him out, whereas I personally love staring cats down. It's infinitely more satisfying than staring down a dog.

Overall, I prefer cats to neighbours dogs.

There are certainly smart and dumb cats. I had one years ago that we're pretty sure was inbred,(her dad was her uncle, I think :shock due to my then roommate's not having been responsible with her cats before I moved in. (22 :shock: in a medium-sized apartment... before I moved in there, she dropped the number down to five)

This little kitty's head was always tipped at a 45° angle to one side, and she had a tendency to bump into walls when she was heading around a corner. She was happiest lying across the back of my neck,purring contentedly, head and front paws on one side, back paws and tail on the other...I could even walk outside and this indoor cat would just lie still and look around. Unfortunately, when that living situation took a nosedive, I couldn't bring the kitty with me.

As the proud owner of a female cat (and a female dog) I can say I do like cats.

Also, I hate to double post, but has anybody else heard the myth that if a cat was the size of a human, they could jump over a house?
I mean, thinking about it, I could imagine it..

This is the lovely Bella....my friend's cat. She is my little buddy every week when I visit. (and yes, that is where the name comes from...lol)

I love cats. I can't have one at home for several reasons, but I really enjoy visiting friends who have cats.
One of my friend's cats really took a fancy to me. Although she normally avoided people she didn't know, on my very first visit at this friend's home she came to sit on my lap. When I was gone, my friend told me that the cat was looking for me in all rooms of the house. When I came back a year later the cat remembered me and was always at my side as if I had never been away. This cat really had adopted me. I was sad when my friend told me that she had died.

I think people who call cats disloyal or unfriendly don't know cats very well. Cats are more like people, they are able to like and dislike things and people. And they are brutally honest. You can dominate a dog, it will crawl back to its master even after a beating. You can bribe a dog, and it will do all sorts of things to humor you. A cat won't. If it doesn't like you, it won't take even its favourite food from your hand. It will never relinquish its own free will just to humor a human being. But if it loves you it will go to great lengths to show you its love.

Of course there can be nice dogs and mean cats, but on the whole I've seen nice character traits in more cats than dogs.

I've deployed this scenario many times. Since cats take staring into the eyes as a primal threat. Although for some odd reason, I always get a cold chill (goosebumps) myself when deploying the eye-to-eye staring lock with cats. Couldn't really tell you why though.

Yes/No. Sure they're cute and cuddly, but as you said they're leeches. Whereas a dog really 'loves' you and is more of a sporty/energetic type. And cats claw you more often than your dog would bite you.

I did like cats until we did the "Black Light Test".

All cats use the litter box to do their thing. All litter boxes have germs from the cat doing its thing.

When the sun goes down turn off all your lights in the kitchen so it is completely dark. Then turn on the "Black Light" You can see all the paw prints where the cat has been, probably right after the litter box. And the kitchen is the place where you prepare food.

Sorry no more cats for us!
