Drive 0 Unallocated Space with Error: 0x80070017

I've built a new gaming pc. I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64. The installer says Windows can't be installed to this drive. The only options that aren't greyed out are Refresh, Load Driver, and New.
I click New with the default size of 953869 mb, hit Apply, and it comes back with We couldn't create a new partition [Error: 0x80070017].
I've tried formatting with Diskpart and it returns a cyclic redundancy error. Maybe I did it wrong?
Now the bad part. The first time I tried to install, it said it couldn't install to that disk, but I had all the options available. I clicked format. Thinking it had frozen, I removed the usb I was trying to install from and restarted the computer to try again. Turns out that wasn't the brightest move.
Have I destroyed my drive, or is there some hope?

Welcome to the forum. You just need to delete all partitions then install Windows and let it create what it needs you can't damage the drive with what you have done

Hi KGatLC,

From your system specs it appears to be a Western Digital 1 TB HDD.

Is that right? Yes/no

Is it a new drive? Yes/no

If an old drive, how old is it and where was it used?

[Error: 0x80070017] usually indicates a corrupt/bad media. That you got a CRC error when trying to format it with diskpart fortifies it.

If it is a Western Digital drive, please download Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS Software and Firmware Downloads | WD Support , create a DOS bootable pen drive , boot and run from it and check the health of your drive. Run the Quick Test and Extended Test. If it passes the tests, then write zeros to the drive to wipe out any dirty bits on it.

Note: The Extended Test will take sometime to finish. If it finishes off in just a second and gives the Pass result, it has tested 0 sectors to give you that and is invalid. In otherwords, it was unable to test all the sectors in the drive. Drive is bad.

If the tests fail, you know what to do . Discard the drive and buy a new one.
