can display reading s in either the tray or in a gadget. If you try it and want to use the gadget have to go with the 32 bit version at the moment as there is a bug in the 64 bit that the readings won't show in the gadget, but works fine in the 32 bit version.

I've never been too concerned about SF's inaccuracy, as long as I knew that it was SF and not my computer. If one has an accurate reference, they can calibrate SF to that for a proper reading. If not, it still serves as a means of detecting a change from whatever is it's "normal" reading. On something like -12v or - 5v I just disable then altogether. Despite it's faults, it is still a compact and handy means of monitoring most everything. It's biggest flaw is that it takes so much CPU and time on boot, that it slows things down noticeably.

What are Vin 3 & Vin 4...are those the +5 voltages? If they are, then both of them appear lower than normal.

I know we're throwing programs at you, but d/l the OCCT beta, and just start the program. You don't have to stress test, but just opening will start the monitoring, and it will display the 5v (as well as 12v, 3.3v, etc.). You can of course run the PSU test to monitor those voltages under load, over time.

That is an interesting program, but it appears to be more for stress testing components, rather than acting as a continuous monitor. Outside of the fact that it is missing the +5vsb reading, like most of the other programs that I have tried today, the rest of the values seems to agree with SF, and that in itself is a help.

Yes, OCCT is a stress testing program. But the Beta has real time voltage monitoring graphs, and if you run the tests it monitors and saves the various paramiters as images. Most programs don't list the standby voltage, as it really doesn't have much to do with the operation of the PC. I wouldn't worry about the standby 5v at all. A Guy

I'm not much impressed with AIDA64...not so much because of the program itself, but it installed Google Chrome, without asking me. Even after I uninstalled it, it left the Google Updater Service behind, and when I tried to disable it in the services tab of msconfig, it reenabled itself as soon as I selected the apply button.

I then tried disabling it in the main services window of Computer Management, and it popped a window saying that access is denied. I have the firewall blocking it, but how do I kill it?

Just a shot...go to the .exe, take ownership, and then try to delete it.

It was no problem deleting the .exe, I didn't even have to take ownership of it, but the service remains stubborn.

Now it is getting serious. I just ran a system restore, taking it back to yesterday, before this was installed, yet when I go to services, Google Updater is still there and won't let itself be disabled. I now consider it to be malware at the least, and spyware at the worst.

I finally got the service disabled. Somehow it had my firewall protecting it, and I had to suspend protection long enough to disable the service. The same was true with a number of files and folders in App Data. Hopefully, it will not find a way to resurrect itself again.

A 5v standby is common to most electronics, like a TV. It is what keeps the set ready to receive the remote signal, or send the power on command when the power button is pressed. It will also keep the clock time in a TV.

The voltage is not a run voltage, that is, it isn't sent to CPU or other chipsets to maintain operation. It is just there to keep the PC ready for the press of the power button, and possibly for USB port power as mentioned. There is likely a 5v voltage regulator specifically tasked to provide this 5v standby, and the voltage could likely range from approx. 3.9v to 7.5V. I wouldn't be concerned. A Guy

Well I've never had this happen and I've been using AIDA64 since they kicked Everest to the curve. Guess it pays to pay attention to what's being installed by a program.

Anyway AIDA does most everything any other program out there does, it's accurate and it provides a ton of info about your system. Yeah it isn't free, but it's well worth it. My opinion.

And if FinalWire (AIDA64) did include Google, they aren't the first, last, and only software manufacture to include browser stuff with their installs - which is why you should always pay attention to what's being asked to install.

Don't know where you got your copy from because the latest version (1.70.1400) that I just installed (again), just to see, doesn't install anything but AIDA64

Just downloaded it from the AIDA64 site to doublecheck - Release Package | AIDA64 Extreme Edition 1.70.1400





Only thing installed is AIDA64. Where'd you get your file from?

No thanks, I'm not interested enough to mess with it. However, the link that I gave seems like an official link to me. I got it from here:

And I used the AIDA64.com mirror. It may be that this only effects the trial version...I don't know. I do know that I thought that it was odd that the .exe that I downloaded, went back online to download more during the installation. In fact the download progress bar appeared twice.

Yeah that was odd that it went back on the internet to download more files. And 1.70.1400 is official, which is what I used from the link below to test the issues you describe, but I didn't get them.

That wouldn't make any difference. Also the official supported version is 1.70.1400 which is what you linked to. The Beta version is 1.70.1431.

Anyway I don't know why or how you got Google Chrome when it shouldn't have been included with the program

Perhaps you should send an e-mail to FinalWire about it.
