Trying but failing to create a dualboot with Ubuntu 24.
Have completed all the prerequisites, however my stick doesn't read when starting the pc. Just a black screen & a flashing cursor.
Please advise/assist.

Are you booting without hitting F8, F10, Delete, etc. while the computer is booting (depending on which key you need to hit for your particular machine)? IOW, you need to select the USB from the boot menu. Which you get into by hitting a certain key.

Also, did you first install Windows? That is the usual way to do it. Much easier than Linux first, especially if you're new to dual booting Linux and Windows.

As SIW2 said, if you tell us the exact model of HP you have, we could look up the manual, to find out what key you need to hit to access the boot menu. Or you could try finding that info yourself. You may have to tap the key several times, as soon as you hear the machine starting up. Older machines may list the USB under the Hard Drive heading on the boot menu, so if you don't see it listed, look under hard drives, it should be in there. Assuming the USB is good, and the ISO of Ubuntu was correctly done.
