Hello,
after reinstalling w7(using USB) dvd drive does not appear in "My computer" anymore(Can't find it in Device manager it either). In addition when my notebook is booting I get DELL's warning that some drive can not be identified(and it does not state which), so I have to press Esc to skip that warning so I can successfully boot my windows 7 up.
My notebook's dvd drive don't inject any CD's/DVD's anymore. Seems like dead after reinstall.
Any ideas how to bring it back?
Dell xps m1530.

the dvd driver is probably corrupt or incorrect. go into device manager (type device in search) and look for any unknown devices. If you find any could you use snipping tool to upload a picture of the device manager

thanks in advance

It's solved now. Fixed itself after 5 restarts. I figured it was hardware problem, because it wasn't detected by BIOS even.

I had the same problem today not having my computer recognize dvd drives. The problem was solved quickly by the Microsoft Help and Support website at Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs . Simply follow the directions on that site at Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs. I was using Windows 7 RC but followed the website's advice for Vista and it worked. The site has comparable advice for XP and other Windows versions.
