Edit windows explorer details pane?

Well, I think I found my answer -- Welcome to Classic Shell found in http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/64792-how-configure-windows-7-explorer.html

Just installed it, and so far it's great.

Does that actually change the look?

By default, the folder only shows date modified. I'd like it to show date created instead (and maybe other info if possible).

You'll have to compare before/after to determine if it actually changes the look.

I'm showing "Date Modified," too. But I opened a folder and added the "Date Created" column by doing the following steps:
1. Clicked "View" then "Choose Details" That popped up a list of columns to choose from.
2. Typed the letter "d" a couple of times until it reached "Data..." in the list, then scrolled down to "Date Created"
3. Checked the box next to "Date Created" and clicked OK.

Does that work for you?

No, I'm talking about the bottom details panel. Like if you open My Computer in Windows Explorer, the bottom details panel tells you USERNAME-PC, Workgroup: WORKGROUP, Processor: Processor Info and clock speed, Memory: Memory Info.

Ah, now I see what you're talking about. For folders, only the modified date is shown, but with Windows Classic Shell, the Create date shows up in the status bar, which is at the bottom.

Are you seeing the status bar? If not, click "View" then make sure "Status Bar" is checked.

I have not been able to figure out how to specify what goes in the details pane. I burned a lot of time and cycles screwing around with registry settings, but couldn't get what I wanted, which was the shortcut comments field. What Classic Shell got me was the contents of the comments field once again showed up in the status bar below the details pane.

It seems that Windows controls which properties are displayed for different types of files. I do see that for shorcuts (.lnk), it does show the create date (which is the create date of the shortcut itself, not the file it's pointing to). It also shows create date for .gif and .tif files.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but after reading this thread I found if you right click on the Details Pane you can change the size of the view and bring up more info to edit such as Artist. Hope this helps. The default is obviously small.
