I cannot seem to find any option that will automatically ping my email server from Windows Live Mail. In order to get mail, I must manually click in Sync. Is that option even available in WLM?

Tools/Options/Send Receive Messages (there are check boxes and settings for automatic sync). Also on the first page of the properties for each account that you set up there is a check box to indicate if the account should be included. Personally, I prefer to do it manually. IIRC, some of those options didn't quite work as expected and hopefully will be fixed in the next version, currently in beta.

Thank you, roncerr. I must have a slightly different version than you do, but your input helped me find it. I just bought a Dell laptop that came with W7 and I'm at the bottom end of the learning curve here.

For anyone else that may have my version, what I found was a small icon at the upper right that flagged as "Menus (Alt+M)" and in that selection I found "Options." In the "Options" box that launched there was no "Send Receive Messages," but in the "General" tab that came up there is a place to "Check for messages every" followed by a dialog box to change the default 30-minutes to whatever you desire.

Thanks again, I likely would never have found that without your pointing me in the right direction.

I meant within the "General" tab the check boxes are located in a section of the page called "Send / Receive Messages". But in order to see the "Tools" heading in the main window of WLM you need to add the "Menu Bar" which is off by default. Microsoft has been trying to move away from menu bars but if you put it back you may notice a lot of stuff that you might otherwise miss.
