The decryptor you use should decrypt all the vobs in a video-ts folder . Handbrake can recode a full movie from such a folder . Click on source, and select video-ts folder, and browse to the target location of your decryptor.

This option works fine for me .

I realize that this response is quite belated, but having tried about every other option on a few of my DVDs, I started backtracking.

At first, I came back to this thread to try using MeGUI again, but when I started running into some of the same problems as before, and the words in the posts started swimming around my head, I decided to finally try HandBrake, as you were suggesting.

I admit that I didn't read any instructions, but just followed my nose. I opened the program, selected the source (the first .99GB .vob), selected the destination, selected the file type, and pressed the Start button. After ~35 minutes, I had a mkv file that worked perfectly...except that it only contained the first .99GB vob, not the rest of them as I had hoped.

Obviously, I didn't select the source properly, but am not sure how to do so. Any help?

Im a bit unfamiliar with handbrake, but ..

In Megui, you decrypt and copy the Main movie to your HD.

From there, you need to Index the first .99GB VOB file. Indexing will automatically analyse the DVD, let and the encoder know exactly ones fit together as a single file.

This step is important. If you just choose the 1st VOB as the source,rather than indexing them, it will just encode that part.


Im not sure if HandBrake has a similar feature though, or a slightly different method of prepping the DVD.
Hopefully others with more knowledge of the program can help more.

Thanks, but I tried your method and it didn't work. It was odd that the last vob that DVD Decrypter processed was listed as the first in the output folder, but I did not use it, but the first .99GB vob after it. Apparently, HandBrake does things differently.

As it turns out, the reason that HandBrake confused me, is because it was too simple. Instead of pointing it at the first .99GB vob file, you just point it at the entire folder containing the files. I would be very surprised if I ever attempted to use MeGUI again, because I'm a sucker for simple.

While selecting the source, you may select this : (see the snip)

to encode the entire movie at once . Otherwise, you may encode the entire DVD, too .

An alternative option is there . You may encode all the VOB files separately, and then merge them all using the wonderful tutorial made for us by Wishmaster : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/111442-mkv-mp4-files-merge-into-single-file.html .

Apparently, you didn't read my last post, because I discovered how to point it at the folder with the vobs, and since then it has gone smoothly. I encoded ~ 6 films with it, and the only problem is that it is somewhat slower than I prefer. However, that is very tolerable, since I wasn't able to encode those videos with any of the other encoders. Therefore, I doubt that I will use it to directly encode from a DVD, since chances are that one of the other encoders will be able to do it faster. Typically, it takes ~ 2 hours to encode from vobs that have already been ripped to the hard drive, and usually, I can rip from a DVD in ~ 35-40 minutes with an equal size video. While I'm a sucker for simple, I'm also fanatic for fast.

really ! I haven't seen the last post ! Nice to hear that you have figured everything out But in fact it is a bit slow compared with some paid programs , at the same time it results better output . All the good programs use Xvid codec and x264v codec are free ... but a bit slow .
