Hello,

After days of trying to search google for help, I have stumpled upon sevenforums and decided to post. So, recently, my hard drive became defective, and my computer would not boot unless I unplugged it, so I replaced it with another old spare hard drive (that works). Because of this, I have to reinstall windows again, and I have already formatted it.

During step 2 of the installation, the step after "copying files", I get this message :

"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart. Error Code x080070570".

I tried this same CD on a virtual machine, and it works fine. Also tried resetting bios to default, but doesn't work either. I deleted all the partitions, except 1, but to no avail.
Any suggestions?

Thank you.

A shot in the dark here, do you need to load any drivers for the DVD/CD player?

I have a HDD + DVDRW attached to an PCIe<->SATAII addin card and I can start the boot from the DVDRW but after I get past the Loading files section if I do not load the SATA driver I loose connection to both the HDD & the DVDRW

I get around the problem by attaching a USB DVDRW drive just for the boot process

I have reformatted dozens of times cleanly without any drivers.

Wipe the HD then try install again: Disk Check

The error is normally a bad installer or burn. If it indeed works on another computer then try writing ISO to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in dropdown menu, boot stick under USB, Removable, or HD's.

Report back on these steps as there are others if needed.

Just tried it. Doesn't work either. Installation with USB gives me the same problem as CD. Also, just tried to install Windows XP out of curiosity. I get blue screened while doing so, and on the blue screen it says IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS. No idea what that is. What can cause problems during installation of an OS?

I will try UBUNTU next, as a last resort.

Thanks a lot for the help. Ran the mem tests, and I had one faulty ram stick. Just did the install, it works.

Glad it helped.

Look over the steps in Perfect Install link in my signature pic below for help in setting it up.

Was wondering, I used a downloaded version of Win7, there's no crack for it, and right now i'm on the 30 day thing for activation. I have my own Windows 7 CD, with a product key, but it says that the key is only used for upgrading, and not clean installations. Is it possible to use get around this?
