Eset Smart Security 4 & Windows 7 64bit

Hello I'm new here, although I may have figured out why Eset Smart Security 4 keeps blocking my internet access on install, I have other questions about this software and Windows 7.

After somewhat of a solid run since the release of Windows 7, last night my computer just flipped out. The last thing installed were a few true type fonts from an older masterfont collection that I have. Coming back to my computer about an hour or so my monitor was black, as if asleep, after a few unsuccessful attempts to awaken, I powered down without any other options.

On boot up my computer went from the login screen to a black screen with only the cursur arrow visible. Another power down resulted in a login screen to OS boot up but this time stuck in the ESET loading screen. After that power down everything just went nuts, with windows explorer crashing every 3 minutes and my computer crawling at the slowest rates possible. Working in safe mode and uninstalling Eset was no help either.

Frustrated with system restore not letting revert back to any other saved point. I just went ahead and reinstalled windows for the 5th time.

So I'm back at square one with my original problem of Eset smart security 4 or windows firewall blocking all internet access. Is anyone else having these problems? Is this a virus or could my dated software be causing all of this trouble? Maybe I should be using Windows 7 32bit instead?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm dreading having to reinstall all my music, game and work software again if this is going to keep happening.

Boot into safe mode and uninstall ESET and see if your problem still exists...it sounds like ESET's fire wall is your problem..

I'm running the latest version of Eset and Win 7 x64 without any problems. If you want to know if your system is 64 bit compatible download and run this - GRC|SecurAble: Determine Processor Security Features| Also, make sure you have downloaded the 64 bit version of Eset. It's in a seperate download location.

If he had downloaded the wrong version it would have not installed.

I have used ESET for about 7 years and never had that problem. Something else must be installed or a peice of hardware could be at fault(doubt it though).

If you install ESET and your internet stops working you probably have more than one firewall running.

But the slow down indicates another problem(probably a driver).

I did a walk through with eset tech support, they couldn't figure out what was wrong but got it working. The only thing we did that was different was use the online install instead of the CD that eset sent me.

We also created a restore point, just in case. Thanks for the responses, I'm glad its working again.

Eset nod32 smart security

Hello to everyone. Directly to the point...here's my problem. I installed Eset Nod32 Smart Security 4 on my Windows 7 32x laptop and it works wonderfully. The issue is when I tried installing the 64x version on another laptop with Windows 7 64x.

What happened is that whenever I start up my computer, the Starting Windows screen with the glowing windows logo comes up normally but then, after a few seconds, it freezes there. The sounds from my computer notifies me that the User logon screen comes up and, when typing the password, the sound it makes tells me that I'm logged on, but the Starting Windows screen is still frozen there. I cannot see my desktop or my folders or anything, the Starting Windows screen stays frozen.

At first I thought it was a Windows update issue, I restored my computer to an earlier date and updated windows with no problems. Then, when I installed the Smart Security program again, the same thing happened. The Eset Nod32 Antivirus 4 for 64x OS works fine, I just can't update it, but that's a different issue. The problem is with the Smart Security program.

Does anybody out there have any ideas on why this happens?? PLEASE HELP!!!!!
