Solved Every browser I use crashes

Google Chrome: Has it's own verion of flash player built in. IE uses a differnet version of flash player. If you've got other browsers like Firefox installed they use yet another version of flash player.

Suggest:

Check that all old versions of Chrome have been removed then reboot:

https://www.raymond.cc/blog/remove-outdated-google-chrome-files/

Run the flash player removal tool and delete everything mentioned then reboot:

https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

   Note

Delete

C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player

After reboot test your browsers. If there's no crash download the required versions of flash player from

Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe

and install one at a time.
I tried removing chrome with the old chrome remover and this is what happened:chrome remover.png

Sorry but I've not been getting any email notifications for this thread and only just noticed your question. I meant to suggest that you use the manual removal method for old versions of Chrome rather than the "Old Chrome Remover" software. Sorry that it wasn't clear. That software hasn't been updated - there is an altenative "System Ninja" but I wouldn't recommend it. I do use it myself sometimes but it really does require inspecting every file that it wants to remove and adding many entries to an exclusion list.

If you just want to check how many versions of flash player and chrome you've got lurking around on your hard drive you could run a scan with the software mentioned in this post.
I've sent you a PM with the direct download link.

Note: For old chrome versions click the "+" sign to expand the entry and get the file location for the old versions then manually delete them. Do not delete the current version of chrome.

TrashZone will be able to help with your other questions but just run a scan and fix any Chrome or Flash Player problems found. If there are any other problems with outdated software - ignore them and post details.

My laptop has that setup. :(

W7 struggles to play HD videos.
However the LM17.1 install can play them, as it only uses ~50% of the RAM that W7 does (at idle).

It would be nice ...

It would be nice, however:

  • Choosing the correct RAM is a nightmare (probably even worse for laptops)
  • The price of RAM doubled in Australia in 2013 and it hasn't dropped

I don't know anybody on this forum that has any control of pricing.

It's down to, if you want your system to do more you need more and better hardware.

At the present time I have MSE and Malware Premium running with just this forum using Firefox. One tab only
I keep a very clean msconfig Startup and non Microsoft Services.
I'm using 1.8 gigs of ram. What is a 64 Windows 7 going to do with only 2 gigs total ram.

I was posting my observations.

It's not an issue for me, since my laptop is only being used as a glorified media player (it just sits alongside the TV and stereo).

LM17.1 does the job at least as good as W7, if not better.
Both operating systems couldn't output video correctly to the TV.
However my friend was able to find a set of Linux commands that fixed that problem in LM17.1, whereas in W7 no amount of tinkering with the Intel driver options could fix the issue.

Installing LM17.1 (64 bit) is significantly cheaper, than buying more RAM (a few cents vs $90).

Answer:

I'm not sure if rams really the issue here. My internet signal is also randomly cutting in and out, in addition to the shockwave player crashing as well. I've tested the pages I visit on other computers that are older , have less memory or, are very close to the same ram as mine that use windows xp; and those pages I visit run smoothly. I know it's not my network administrator either because I tested my computer at someone else's house and it still did the same thing. In addition, the same multitude of web pages I used 6 months ago on this computer worked fine. Now however, they work but I constantly get interrupted with shockwave crashing or my internet signal disconnecting in the middle of browsing on any given search engine. There's got to be more to this than just ram messing things up. Something just doesn't add up!
