Explorer.exe taking up 15-30% CPU usage when moving mou

It doesn't but that CPU usage isn't normal I just consider myself a person that does everything for optimal performance lol..

When idle, you should always aim for as low as 0%, or at least close to that.

I tried moving the mouse faster and the CPU moves at 5-7 %. Yours is a bit high than what it should be. Does it happen everytime?

Yes it does, even moving the mouse just slowly.

And even without moving the mouse pointer it is still increasing. I think it's a thread in the explorer.exe that's causing the problem, so I don't know.

0% is a waste of electricity, and other resources. But of course if you mean 0% as in the computer is off...then sure that is possible.

Yeah. But you wouldn't want using CPU usage that high when you are idle, that's why it's called idle

I wouldn't worry on that CPU usage IF I'm using my programs but in this case I'm not even doing anything.

No difference. Even restarting the whole laptop wouldn't do anything.

I have all the latest drivers btw.

At first, I'm not moving the mouse and the CPU usage still goes up and down with explorer.exe being the culprit.

At the latter part of the video, I move the mouse and CPU usage will hover not less than 20%.

I think explorer.exe TID 1344, 1348, and 3340 are causing the problem since when I move my mouse it's that thread's CPU usage that goes boom!

extension in explorer? Uhm, do you mean Internet Explorer? Explorer.exe is not iexplore.exe right?

Security software, yes, ESET NOD32. It's also installed in my Vista computers and no problems like this at all. I tried temporarily disabling it, the problem still persists.

I m sorry friend. that's wired. Download ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows and see if there's any suspicious entry in right click context menu. Nothing else that i can think of at this point of time.

Have you thought of re downloading Windows 7 from MSDN and reinstalling it... Your current copy may be corrupted...

I got it from NewsGroups, I think. And the security checks of the ISO match perfectly, I'm pretty much sure about that.
