Explorer.exe taking up 15-30% CPU usage when moving mou

If using the mouse at idle causes 30% cpu use, I could see that causing some problems when running a cpu intensive application.

True, but the OP didnt say that .. he cited no performance related issues period.. and if you're using your mouse, your cpu is not at idle

Well, actually I still don't see any speed performance decrease, really.

And as I've said earlier, it jumps to 30% EVEN WITHOUT moving the mouse, and I'm sure you guys consider that IDLE.

So with that said, that's really a problem. 30% explorer.exe load even without doing anything?

It is not often that I disagree with my esteemed colleagues.

The CPU spike is caused by activity over the USB, which requires CPU time. Yes, your wireless mouse is USB.

You are observing a driver issue, one that may or may not be corrected in the future with a driver update - whether that driver is for your chipset, wi-fi, mouse, or any other USB device. Most historical reports of this anomoly remain unsolved.

For those people experiencing a "normal" spike, you are also affected by this driver issue. Is it a problem? Apparently not.

A chipset or mouse or wi-fi driver update is in order for the OP. The sustained CPU activity in explorer.exe likely indicates chipset.

My chipset and every driver you can think of with my laptop are all updated, including the chipset, intel matrix storage manager, and etc.

I disconnected all of my USB devices and used the touchpad instead, still the same problem.

And also, even without moving the mouse the problem still persists. So there CAN be a possibility that this is not a mouse issue at all.

Just because said drivers are "up to date" doesn't mean they work properly.

Hey

two things

first can you run msinfo32 in search and tell us exactly what string is in HAL?

Are you overclocking?

And no I'm not overclocking.

I believe you when you say you have a legit copy, and that you have a problem, but we have gone thru 76 posts and not made any progress. We have seen any problem known to man (i, myself have posted 4000 times) and I just wonder what it is that makes this un-fixable.

Either we need more info or need to take a different course.

the usual suspects in freezes will show a telltale error in event viewer (type eventvwr in search) goto the windows log file and look for errors with red "x" in the left column. Us the built in snipping tool to make a screenshot of them and upload it to us

Thank you, it's just that I want to know which process is causing the high cpu usage of explorer.exe that's why I'm insisting on continuing this :)

I'm in Windows logs right now, should I go to Applications subtab? I see some red "!" but not "x". Are those the one you're looking for?

Your build is pirated. Period. It was not provided to you by MS. One more comment from you in argument of this fact will likely terminate all assistance from knowledgeable members.

Except Ken.

Drivers currently available to you have not addressed the anomoly. Why do you think drivers get updated?

Your touchpad is a USB device.

This case is closed for me.
