Firefox user with query re Internet Explorer

Hi
I don't use I.E at all (only Firefox) yet when I use CCleaner it finds loads of temporary internet files, index.dat files etc. relating to I.E

How is this possible? As I say I never use that browser so where are the files coming from? Are they to do with updates from Microsoft?

Yes, and a lot of software also load stuff into IE(number), it happens to me as well, game launcher for once love to load stuff into IE(number), if your concerned about what the heck is going on, just check the files and see what is loaded there, I hope we'll be able to uninstall IE(number) on Windows 8 from the system for good (you can't on Windows 7, it is still there in some form...) just my 3 cents
