Flash Player 11 keeps wanting to re-install !

Hello,
(Win 7 64, IE9)
Installed the latest version of flash player (11.5.502.135) and all went well.
But when I go to some sites, I keep getting the install window anew.
I refuse the installation and have no problem on the sites.
But this is getting a real pain.
I removed Flash and installed again... got the "successful install" message.
And still, now and then, I get the install window popping up on my screen
What can I do ??????

Please follow the steps listed below:
- Open a 'flash video' (Youtube)
- Right-click and select 'Settings'
- Click 'Advanced'
- Click 'Global Notifications Settings' on the left
- Un-check the box for 'Notify me when an update to Adobe Flash Player is available'
- Close the window to save settings

You may also use the 'Global Notification Settings Panel' to configure the updates: Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Global Notifications Settings Panel

strangely I have no problem on Youtube

anyway, went back to one site where I DO have problem :
Mappy - Mappy - plans, itinéraires, guide d'adresses en Europe

and the window popped up again : USER ACCOUNT CONTROL - do you allow the following program to make changes.... program name : adobe flash player

when I click NO, I can use the page normally but the window pops up again when I send for itinerary
I allowed a re-install, checked again "never check for updates"... but this does not change anything to my problem !

Thank you for the reply.

It appears that 'Adobe Flash Player' is working as designed; and you've configured it for no 'auto-update prompts'.

The pop-up that you are getting seems to be a 'Malware'; while researching I came across similar cases: AdobeFlashPlayer.exe malware

You may want to try creating a new 'User Account' to check if the issue re-occurs. Refer to the following tutorial, if needed: Set up a separate user profile to increase system stability | Dell

I still have the problem though it's not quite what is described on the link you sent
and I NEVER updated adobe flash outside of adobe's own site....
I will try creating a new account next week (busy week end !) and let you know

System behavior in another 'User Account' may bring some more clarity. You may also want to check the system in 'Safe Mode with Networking' to see if that changes something. Would appreciate if you could also post a 'screen shot' of the 'pop-up prompt' in regards to 'Adobe Flash'.

Let me know about the findings (as per convenience); will take it forward.

here are the screen shots :

if I select No at this stage, this window comes back each time I hit a button on the site...
but the site functions normally in spite of this

if I select Yes....

then I can use the site without further interference !

as you see, all happens quite normally... it's just that it keeps happening ! :shock:

BUT I only seem to have the problem on this one site... and only with IE... as I have little time to play with it right now... I live with it (hoping it will resolve itself, as things sometimes do !!!

)

but I'll keep you posted if I get to work on it...

Your system does not appear to be 'infected'; prompts look fine. Please share if you could try testing with a new 'user account' and in 'Safe Mode'. In the mean while, you may try the following steps:

Holistic overview of the situation would indicate an issue either with Internet Explorer, Flash Player or with the website that is causing trouble. Since you are experiencing issues only with 'IE' and with one specific website (Mappy - Mappy - plans, itinéraires, guide d'adresses en Europe), it may also be a compatibility issue between the 'website & IE9'.

Different websites are optimized to to be used with different browsers (and browser versions); you may want to check if IE9 finds a place in list of 'compatible browsers' for this website.

You may also try using a previous version of IE (IE8) or a previous/beta version of 'Flash Player' to see if that makes any difference. This may help you to isolate the root cause of the issue.

just a quick answer

1 - I have been using MAPPY with IE9 for a long time, without any problem
2 - the problem started after I updated flash palyer
3 - I just checked the site, I still have the same issue... but I have no problem on any other site... yet....

unfortunately I have no time at the moment to try to sort it out
but when I do, I'll keep you informed !
