Flickering Lines

My old GForce GT9600 512 MB was doing fine. Everything was fine, and no flickering lines on screen. Though, the other socket (left side) has an issue, and there were flickering lines, but I don't plug it. Oh, I am using DVI monitor, and the brand is AOC.

I wanted to buy something newer and faster one. So I bought PALIT GT440 1GB GDDR5. But there's a problem:

-Flickering lines on screen annoy the heck out of me.
-In deviantART, flickering lines appear browsing at dA's homepage, gallery folders, and some pages.
-In Google Chrome, by clicking the "new tab." Flickering lines appear again. (I'm using Pinkie Pie theme. Hey, are you a brony too?)
-Sometimes, flickering lines appear everywhere.
-I think, flickering lines will appear on some websites or maybe more. (And I don't like it).
-all of above, it went black screen for 0.5-2 seconds. And sometimes it went faster to get black screen like 0.5-1 seconds.

Unlike, the GForce GT9600 has the same sockets (Both are DVI but different functions. Left socket has an issue, and the right socket does not). While the newer one I bought has an issue, though it got DVI, VGA, and HDMI. And I don't even have a VGA adaptor.

How do I get rid of these annoying lines on my screen? I don't want black screen and it won't let me see their pictures! Do I need to get a better adaptor, or VGA adaptor, or something?

So please, oh please, reply me back, and tell me what to do!

Seavixen is correct, from what I find this card needs 12v@22A minimum. Palit says this card is a discontinued model, did you buy it used?

Check the connectors on both ends of the DVI cable by gently wiggling then to see if this produces the lines. Cable could be bad, or if the lines appear wiggling the monitor end, the monitors, connector may be bad.

Download the newest nVIDIA driver (275.33 WHQL) and save to your desktop. Download and use Driver Sweeper to uninstall your current driver first, then install the new one and reboot.

I don't think this will help. I've never overloaded my power supply not even once. It's everything fine on my GForce GT9600 but not GT440. I've downloaded the latest version of Nvidia Graphic driver, but there is still a problem, except GForce GT9600.

The Nvidia 275 driver has been flickering on me occasionally.
My flickering is gone when I use the 270.61 driver.

Might be worth going to the Nvidia 270.61 driver and trying it.
Link for your version> NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.61 WHQL

The newest is not always the best with every piece of hardware.
This is not an old driver dated April, 2011.

Okay, before installing that driver. Do I have to uninstall Graphic Driver too? Because I am afraid to do it, it might blacken my screen, and can't see what I am going to do.

Did you read my steps? Do the same with the 270.60. your screen may black out for a short time, but Windows generic driver will kick in and you will see your screen, but at a lower resolution.

It is best to get rid of all bits of an old graphics driver before installing a new one.

Also check your PSU label for Max Amps under +12v.

When you install NVIDIA's later drivers such as the 270 and 275, they give you the option of a clean install, which will delete the old driver first.

I think you really do need to get your power supply checked out. If you're not sure what its voltage/current/wattage parameters should be, check it out on Google.

A clean install of which driver?

You have to provide us with at least the make/brand and model number of the PSU.

If it is a standard PSU it is probably only 250W. Standard replacement for a HP, Dell, Compaq low end PC.

Way too small.

I think something is getting lost in translation here so I'll spell it out.

It is more likely to be your power supply than your graphics card, but we need you to confirm what make of power supply it is so we can determine its power rating.

You can upgrade all you like, but if your power supply unit is not man enough for what you throw at it, it's no better than a one-legged dwarf in a pole-vaulting contest.

this may sound daft, but have you tried switching the monitor off then on when it flickers, i use a 32" lfatscreen tv as a monitor and occasionally it flickers (not very often) i found that switching it off and on cleared the problem , i gave the same advice here
http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-...linking-flashing-continously.html#post1451287
and it worked

Still won't work. :(

Can you read my first post of this thread then read my PC specs, so you'll understand?

My PC needs to be about 20% Cooler.
Thanks for the PSU spec. It has a MAX of 19A for +12v and you GT440 needs a MIN of 22A, so you are under powering it. This may cause flickering and overheating in the GT440 and the PSU which would lower its output even more.
I would get a new PSU of at least 600W or what has a +12V rating of at least 28A to give some overhead for you. The hard drives use the same 12V too along with CD/DVD combo drives. The PSU you haver has 2 12V rails which means you have to balance the load on each one, a better choice is a single 12V rail and there's no balance issue.

I have confirmed that driver 275.xx is not a good one. You should still use driver sweeper to sweep the driver. The nVIDIA clean install leaves behind some registry entries and a few .dlls.

Here is a good PSU Corsair CX600 and is not too costly. It has active PFC and a single 12V rail with 40A. PFC is power factor correction which give a stable power source.
