I am posting this in the networking forum because I believe creating a home network caused the problem. Basically I have Windows 7 ultimate x64 running on a home build computer. I ripped all my music cds and placed them in the my music folder. I then made icons of all the albums and replaced the folder icon with these.

Sweet!!! My home media sytem is almost complete. Now I attach the cable modem, and windows seven asks if I want to set up a home network.. sure.. might need it in the future. So it makes a home network.

Now I go to the my music folder and... nothing is there. No folders! The library says they are there.. I can play the music in Itunes, but I can't see the folders!! The properties for the folder says it is full of so many megabytes of stuff, but nothnig is seen. The library says the folder is unavailable.

I have checked permissions. Detached from the home network, nothing seems to work. Where are my folders I so painstakingly created?

Help?? Any ideas?

Please!

See the deal is with Librarys is that your files and folders aren't really stored there. Librarys are just places where you can view representations all of your files, even if they are spread out over several different drives. They aren't the actual file but just represent the files stored in your User folders.

The actual files are stored in your Users folders so you might try going into the local disk C then to "Users" > User name> Music folder so you can access the actual music folders. This is where you should be adding your files, not Librarys.

If you can't see the files in the music Library then you need to add your User folder>Music file to your music Library then you will see them there. It's a difficult concept to grasp at first but you can add serveral file locations to a Library and view them all in one place which is very convienant.

It's always best to add your files to the User folders directly rather than the Library which is more for viewing all your files no matter where they are located.

Welcome to SevenForums.

I'm a little confused.

Does Windows Media Player find and show your videos, your music?
