Game Window Doesn't Center

Whenever I install a video game (and it's worth mentioning that all of the games that I've installed so far are older games, like Fallout, Icewind Dale, and C&C: Tiberian Sun), the game window doesn't center, instead it stays too far into the bottom left corner, cutting off the screen and leaving two big black boxes on the top and right sides of the screen. I have my computer attached via VGA cable to my TV (a Dynex LCD). How do I get the screen fixed.
It's also worth noting that there aren't any graphics options within the game that settle this issue.
Thank you

Sometimes this happens to me, I also have my monitor attached to my TV... what I do is go to my Nvidia control panel and change the primary display back to my monitor because it seems that, for reasons unclear to me, both display are chosen so half will be displayed on my TV and the other half on my monitor.

If you have ATI, you are on your own as I don't know ATI control manager at all.
