Hello! I am assembling a new PC and needed some expert opinion on it. Basically i want to use this as a gaming pc and hence want it to be a good performance machine. i have been researching on the internet for quite some time now but given my knowledge about hardware, it is really difficult for me to put the right parts in it. From my research, i have narrowed it down to the following hardware:

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 Motherboard
Processor: AMD 3.3 GHz AM3+ FX6100 Processor
RAM: 2 G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4 GB PC RAM
GPU: Zotac NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti 1 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (Or) Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6790 1 GB GDDR5 Graphic card
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD Internal Hard Drive (ST31000524AS)
Cabinet: Cooler Master Elite 311 Plus Mid Tower Cabinet
PSU: Seasonic S12II-520 520 Watts PSU

Please suggest if this is a good package or not in your opinion. Also please suggest any modifications to optimize the entire package. Thank You.

RK2511,
From what I can see this will be a banging system. If you're not going to consider a SSD for the OS and software then the load time for programs and the system boot will take longer but once loaded it will slice through games with the greatest of ease.

I don't know about pricing in your locale, but in the US that AMD CPU costs roughly the same as an Intel I3-2100.

It has about the same performance as the I3-2100, even though the FX 4100 is nominally a quad core CPU and the Intel is dual core (but with hyperthreading, so it'll show up as 4 cores in Windows).

The FX 4100 may be superior in those non-game applications that can exploit multithreading.

As regards the graphics cards, what's the price of a Radeon 6850 where you are? In the US, the price range of 6790 cards overlaps that of the 6850 cards. The 6850 a significantly better card than the 6790.

Well thank you for appreciating my Package. With regards to the SSD, i did check the prices & it is at par or exceeding my budget for storage devices. I guess i will just go with the 1 TB HDD because i'm quite used to waiting with my current system loading up. But i'll keep that in mind in future. Thanks once again.

Intel i3-2100 is a dual core CPU & yes as you said with Hyper Threading it could perform as 4 cores in Windows. But if you see my original post, i have listed FX - 6100 which is a Hexa core CPU (6 cores) at 3.3 Ghz, supports a DDR-3 1866 against intel's DDR-3 1333 and from the reviews that i read around the net; it would make a good processor for a medium budget Gaming machine. The MoBo that i have chosen is a pretty advanced one that can unlock the cores and tune them to perform in a stable environment. (You can check it out on ASUS website in your spare time). Hence i guess it is a good combination.

Regarding GPU, i compared 6790 to 6850 & found out that its pretty advanced than the one i listed. The only constraint remains is the price which is around 25% higher. Let me see if i can arrange for it because it is worth going for. Thanks for the suggestion.
